My wife and I received separate notices from HMRC about our foreign income as interest on FDs from our NRE accounts for the financial year 2022-2023. HMRC requested disclosure through the Worldwide Disclosure Facility, along with payment of taxes, interest, and potential penalties of up to 200%. Completely unaware of our reporting obligations since arriving in the UK in 2016-2017, we were understandably confused and concerned.

Upon recommendation, we consulted with Pankaj Rohra, Director of Finbridge Advisors. Pankaj and his colleague, Ms. Kanishka, clearly explained the situation and highlighted our oversight. Despite receiving notices for only one year, we decided to proactively disclose and pay taxes from 2017 for both of us, anticipating a significant tax bill.

Leveraging their expertise in both UK and Indian tax regulations, Finbridge Advisors successfully minimized our tax liability by identifying available allowances per tax year. To our immense relief, they also managed to negotiate a waiver of HMRC penalties.

As someone new to filing a Self Assessment tax return in the UK, I was feeling overwhelmed and unsure of the process. Thankfully, I found Finbrige Advisors Limited. Their team was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, from obtaining my UTR number to submitting my documents to HMRC.

While the HMRC process itself took some time (which Finbrige Team clearly explained upfront), Finbrige's team provided a month of ongoing support, making sure everything was completed accurately. I contacted FinBridge for filing late self assessment tax returns and also helping me with appeal against the late filing penalties which were imposed on me. I could not submit self assessment during COVID due to financial and personal reasons and people at FinBridge(specially Pankaj and Kanishka) were very prompt, professional and helpful at helping me build up a good appeal. While the initial appeal was unsuccessful, FinBridge helped me write up another appeal at no extra cost against the decision after which all my penalties were waived by HMRC.
