What do you love most about your job?
Teaching a really important subject as well as the customer service side of things. My background is in aviation - I was a flight manager for Virgin Atlantic for 18 years so I feel really strongly that in any industry where other people are involved we must make their experience memorable and positive. First aid has a reputation of being very formal and stiff - instructors walking round with clipboards forcing people to do role plays! Yes it’s a serious subject, but that no excuse for making people feel uncomfortable.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Having children and feeling so grateful that I would know what to do for them in a medical emergency. I always loved and was fascinated with the medical training we received at the airline, and then dealing with real life medical emergency myself helped realise what a powerful skill first aid is - and that it doesn’t have to complicated either.
Why should our clients choose you?
They should choose me if they’ve ever found first aid courses boring or intimidating. I promise you you will walk away feeling empowered and confident (and possibly like you’ve had a good night out with friends).
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
We offer blended learning options for our full paediatric first aid course and our first aid at work courses. You still have to attend a practical/classroom element in order to demonstrate skills and be officially qualified as first aiders.
Our blended learning is interactive and fun too (not death by PowerPoint).
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We have always taken hygiene extremely seriously. All our equipment is throughly disinfected after each course, and the lungs on our mannequins are also brand new for each course. Since covid, we offer learners the option of having one mannequin each, face shields in order to give breaths, gloves and disinfectant wipes. We observe social distancing and give regular breaks for hand washing.
Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)
Emergency First Aid at Work
This one-day course will help you meet your regulatory requirements if your risk assessment indicates that first aid training covering emergency protocols only is sufficient for your workplace.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for people who want to receive training in emergency first aid. It is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments, such as small offices. The course covers first aid protocols for adult casualties only.
Candidates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2). While we are often able to provide support to people who do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. We may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance.
