Mark really knows how to identify the things you struggle with and help you improve. The teaching for History at my school was not the best: a proper essay structure was never fully outlined to me and my teacher’s feedback was limited and unhelpful. Mark helped me find a structure suitable to my needs and writing style that ensured my essays were focused, concise, and clear. He also clearly explained what I struggled with and the techniques I could use to improve.

Mark is also very supportive and is easily contactable outside of tutor sessions. I often sent him practice essays and work I had completed in college for him to look at, and they had always been reviewed by our next session with notes describing what I did well on and what could be improved.

Mark is excellent at helping out with coursework, raising my grade from a D/E to an A*! He helped me plan a new structure and properly utilise the information I had, two things that had not been properly outlined to me by my college teacher. He also taught me how to write academically, using proper referencing and formatting.

His hours are also flexible closer towards exam season which is really handy for last-minute revision. For most of the year I did one hour per week, but by May we had arranged for two hours per week on different days than were originally agreed upon. He was also willing to tutor on weekends during exam season which I am really grateful for!

Previously, my history essays fluctuated between Bs and Ds, and I rarely broke into the A grade boundary. After being tutored by Mark for only 3 months, I achieved an A in my History A Level. For the rest of the year, I averaged As and A*s in my practice essays with his help.
