About

I am a force-free, positive, rewards-based dog trainer. I usually train with a clicker but don't insist my clients do.
My aim is to make training fun for both you and your dog and to keep it relaxed.
I specialise in working with puppies and teaching nose and scent work for fun.

We really enjoyed our puppy training classes with Cary, she was brilliant with our energetic lab and instantly made us all feel at ease. The classes were great for socialisation and setting fundamental behaviours and she offered lots of tips and advice throughout, with a summary email after each session which was so handy. We have been able to make a great start to our puppy training journey from Cary's classes and look forward to joining the adolescent sessions when we reach that stage...! Highly recommend DogScout Dog Training! More...

Q&As

I like working with all animals and dogs particularly. I've had dogs since I was a small child and currently we have two dogs living with us, one of them is a rescue dog. I also enjoy working outside (in all weathers apart from electrical storms!). There is nothing I love better than taking my dogs for a long walk! I also believe in the importance of training - it helps the handler, it helps the dog and it makes for a great relationship between a dog and their handler.

After spending decades in part-time dog training, I made the leap to pursue it full-time. Driven by my profound enjoyment of working with four-legged companions, I recognised the opportunity to turn my passion into a profession. Drawing on my experience training a plethora of dogs, including both my own and those of others, I have enhanced my skills further by completing formal training to become a certified dog trainer and behaviourist.

I prefer to work personally with clients and their dogs - I think this means they get the best service. I am also very experienced working with rescue dogs and all the behavioural problems that can occur when they arrive at their permanent homes.

I can provide services online or remotely; but I prefer to work in person, at least initially.

I obey all guidelines about mask-wearing and always do a COVID test on myself before going to a client meeting. I am also fully vaccinated against COVID.
