How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
I work with a limited number of clients to ensure I can invest the right amount of time in supporting then in their goals. I also have been on my own journey previously with weight loss and made every mistake in the book. This allows me to coach from a place of full understanding and empathy to their situation.
The mistakes i made started my fitness career in studying to be a Personal trainer/sports nutritionist. I learned to do the right things, which are rarely the easy option.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
Consistency, patience and goal setting are key. Consistency beats intensity every time.
Setting small realistic milestones to achieve add up to big result over a longer period of time.
Plus never underestimating the importance of nutrition in the journey. Its Huge !
Have a healthy dose of skepticism on social media when it comes to the fitness world. What you see is rarely anywhere near the whole truth..
What do you love most about your job?
The relationships I build with clients is a large part of my enjoyment. This allows me to share the goals with them and feel their achievements. Plus I am my own boss with a 10 metre commute to my place of work.
Clients are always so grateful of my help. To numerous and personal to share but I have changed clients lives in many ways.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A reflection on my work life balance and wishing to add more value to my family. Its almost the cliché of do the job you love and you will never do a days work in your life, but this is a well worn cliché.
Covid i believe gave lots of people a time to reflect on what's really important. After a successful career of over 25 years in the motor trade I decided to join an elite club of people who take that step out on their own.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am motivated by adding value to clients lives. I dont clock watch or book back to back clients to rush through. I am a more mature PT and whilst a long way from knowing everything i certainly have a lot of experience in the fitness world. I specialise in strength, nutrition and fat loss. However triathlon is my background so well versed in the cardio aspect too.

I do feel this area is not my area of expertise and I prefer the face to face aspect of coaching. So sadly not for me.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
As you would expect I thoroughly clean down all equipment in between clients. Plus I always ask clients to only train when fully fit.
Sports Nutrition
Understanding the huge impact nutrition will make on all of our fitness and fat loss goals is key to both coach and client.
I am studying a higher level of Sports Nutrition ( Level 4) over and above the standard PT qualification ( Level 3). This is partly driven by all the mistakes that I made prior to my PT qualifications that held me back from my full potential.
Strength and Conditioning
I specialise in this area with clients. Partly from a huge passion for the sport but also a recognition of the importance of it to clients . Its also normally hugely overlooked and ignored.
Body composition, Bone density , posture, mood, increased metabolism , flexibility, addressing imbalances, weight management , calorie burn, mental focus and drive, confidence.. Why wouldn't you do it.
From getting up out of a low chair to squatting twice your bodyweight , preserving or increasing our muscle mass is just as important as the cardio for our heart health.
Weight Loss ( Fat Loss and Body composition)
I believe most clients know how to lose weight, but understanding WHY they don't do it is key.
Utilising my sports nutrition knowledge coupled with zoom/facetime/calls in the week with clients to support and address issues in between gym sessions is critical to my many successes with clients in this area.
Also I have done this journey myself and made every mistake going, so can coach from an area of full understanding.
Setting small achievable goals as well and understanding the principle's of NEAT/EAT/TEF and the hierarchy of fat loss gives clients a sense of understanding of what they need to achieve.
Cardio and Endurance training
Clearly no Personal Trainer would be offering a complete solution without advocating the benefits of adding cardio vascular training to the clients schedule if their goals require it ( Most do).
Prior to being a full Time PT I completed in triathlons at a local level. My background was a county Swimmer for many years before getting into running whilst recovering from a shoulder injury. Cycling was added to increase aerobic capacity and then a natural combination of the 3 to Triathlon.
Whether building a solid base with Zone 2 training or looking to complete in your first event such as 5k or similar i can help coach you through to your goals.
