I have taught in mainstream secondary schools for 25 years and have loved inspiring young minds. However, with approximately 30 students in a class, it is challenging to give each of them the attention they need and truly deserve. One-to-one tutoring is so rewarding as there are no interruptions or external distractions affecting the child's learning. I had a Maths tutor as a teenager and I truly believe that's how I passed my GCSE Maths!

I have an instant rapport with young people; they find me attentive, supportive and approachable in my manner. My enthusiasm for my subject is infectious and I can explain challenging ideas in an accessible, clear way so that the student understands what they need to do and in turn feels reassured and confident. I am highly experienced in preparing students for the rigours of GCSE and A Level examinations, with countless young people exceeding their expected targets. I have taught both high achieving students, who have gone on to study English at university, as well as students with SEN needs, who desperately need to achieve a 4 in their GCSEs. I make learning fun and believe my lively, thorough approach is how my students achieve success. I will frequently check students' understanding as well as recall from lesson to lesson and set homework if it is required. I am keen to help!

I can provide teaching remotely via Zoom, Teams and Voov - an app I discovered recently, which is very interactive and easy to use. I can do face to face if you are local.
