I studied music at Huddersfield University, have a degree in music and a PGCE. The piano is my specialist instrument and I have much experience as a performer and as an accompanist.I was a Head of Music in secondary schools for many years mainly teaching GCSE and A level music.
I now teach the piano and music theory privately. I have students of all ages including adults from beginners to students studying for grade 8 piano.
I do enter students for exams, I have experience of teaching both ABRSM and Trinity London exam boards. So far I have a 100% pass rate. I am also happy to teach students who do not want to do exams but play for pleasure.
I use a variety of music in my teaching and will make every effort to tailor repertoire to suit the individual student. I use music from all periods including jazz and popular music alongside learning to play with solid technique.
I prefer to teach face to face but am happy to teach the occasional lesson remotely.
