Hello! My name is Brook and if you are just starting a business, looking to scale up, or restructure, I might be able to help. I have been running my own restaurant businesses for the past 10 years, and in that time have done it all: finance, bookkeeping, fundraising, recruiting, staff training, product development, system implementations, marketing, social media, merchandising, closing locations .

What kind of accounting services do you provide?
I can get your books and records in order. Tidying stuff up and putting processes in place to keep everything ticking along is my area of specific interest, but I can help with day-to-day bookkeeping too. I can also help you with financial forecasting, strategic planning and fundraising support should that be required. And finally - I can help with statutory paperwork submissions including tax returns.
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Ultimately, everything needs to work on a spreadsheet (sad, but very true), and without a view of what the numbers are, or where they are going, it is difficult to achieve anything. I have a wealth of experience working with people who are not 'numbers people', and can help match the creative vision of the business with the financial realities.
What do you love most about your job?
Creating financially and emotionally sustainable businesses that treat their people right and allow the owners to avoid burnout.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been running my own businesses for 10 years. I want to put what I have learned into use to help others build theirs.
Why should our clients choose you?
I offer a full-range service and can advise on an unusually broad range of topics from bookkeeping and financial planning to HR and marketing. Consider me a one-stop-shop, if you will. Let's talk and see what I can help you with!
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I work 100% remotely, but as with everything in life flexibility is important and I would expect to meet in person and give you time "irl" if we decide to work together on a bigger project or over the longer term.
Bookkeeping & Cleaning Historical Data
It does what it says on the tin: getting your your books and records up to professional standard and keeping them there.
Financial Planning & Strategy
Or, Excel stuff. Cash flow forecasts, profit forecasts and so on. I advocate the "keep it simple" approach, and always aim to find the balance between too much detail and not enough - especially when there is not a proof of concept yet. If there is some historic data to work on, all the better.
Staff Training
If you have employees, staff training is the closest you have to a silver bullet. But it is - annoyingly, I'll admit - often not a one-size-fits-all strategy. Some people are best left alone, others need hand-holding, both can produce excellent results. Generally I follow the maxim "structure, training, discipline" in that order. Mostly this means that, without proper structure and training, it is unfair to hold people to account. So the three steps need to be done in that order.
Market Research
Need help figuring out your product-market fit? I can help with that! It can be a dangerous game though, as analysis can lead to paralysis (I have been there, and learned from it) - so I like to find the balance between light-touch research and the "minimum viable product / fail fast" approach.
Tax Returns
I can do UK tax returns for you too. These are done on a fixed cost basis depending on complexity.
Startup Business Advisory
I offer guidance for people who are just starting their entrepreneurial project, whether it be in the planning stage or immediately after. These earliest parts of a business are the most interesting to me, and what I have the most experience with, and I have a good amount of expertise to share.
