We enlisted the help and advice of Lorna and James in order to manage our labrador Murphy's anxiety with loud/unexpected noises.
We worked mainly with Lorna and found that she had a wealth of knowledge and understanding of strategies that would benefit all of us in gaining confidence to manage Murphy's anxiety and help him to feel happier, more comfortable and generally excited by life in order to distract him in stressful situations.
Lorna worked with us and our children (12 & 15) to ensure that we were all using the training and strategies effectively to ensure continuity for Murph.
After 6 sessions, spread out over a few months, the progress was noticeable and we are now able to continue with everything we learnt and continue to build on it.

If you’re thinking about enlisting a Dog behaviourist, I can promise that you will not find a better service than the one James provides at Beta Dogs. What he achieved in the space of 8 weeks is nothing short of a miracle and he has genuinely changed our lives. Frank, our Lakeland terrier, was ruling the house and even our lives outside of it - it was anxiety riddling at the idea of taking him anywhere (extreme barking) which meant we were living quite a reclusive lifestyle. Looking back at the sacrifices we made they seem ridiculous now, but compared to then we are so much more empowered now on what to do and what actually works for Frank. James can offer advise that no Google search can (trust me, I have read every page on how to get a dog off the bed and to stop constantly barking – none of which worked!!). I am so pleased I went for it and in truth, I wish I did it sooner as James’ approach is fantastic. I feel like such a better owner now and Frank is a happier dog for it – what more can you ask for! Lisa at Beta Dogs was recommended to us by a family member and it’s by far the best decision we have made for our pup Luna. The level of detail, communication and support that we received from Lisa over the 6 week training programme is outstanding and it’s been amazing to see the changes that we so desperately needed. We have a long way to go, but Lisa has equipped us well so we’re feeling prepared with what we need to do going forwards. Our Luna has had quite a complicated life, leading her to demonstrate attention seeking behaviours with signs of aggression and anxiety to name a few. But after just 6 weeks, following Lisa’s instruction we can’t quite believe Lunas calmness and responsiveness to our commands, inside the house as well as out on the lead or training line. Lorna and James came to the house and really looked to understand her, us and our enviroment. They had great knowledge and explained things well as to how we got here and how we can change it. The report was thorough and clear. We mainly worked with Lorna from there and she’s was really active and engaged, providing great support whenever needed and joining us for walks in the world giving really useful feedback for progress and generally being a massive help.
The change with the dog has been almost as dramatic as she is! Calmer, more engaged and more responsive.

I can’t recommend Beta dogs highly enough. James is a fantastic behaviourist/ trainer. I followed everything I was told and it all worked a treat. My boy, who was more than a little wayward, is now perfectly lead trained and his recall is brilliant ( actually better than my older one who is learning from the 9 month old!)

James is currently working with us and our 9 month old working cocker spaniel. Into our 3rd session and already seeing vast improvements in Willows behaviour. After reviewing many dog trainers for our Cavapoo Puppy , we decided to contact Beta Dogs . this decision was based on the feedback, reviews and social media .

The BEST decision we have made , James is a wonderful guy , he responded to our initial enquiry promptly , gave great advice over the phone and we felt very comfortable talking to him and decided to engage his services.

We booked a several week course of training and Lola our puppy adored him.

He taught not only Lola but also taught us on behavioural techniques .

Lola has learnt so much , for example , we were reluctant to let her loose in the garden as she was only 11 weeks old .

James has to reassure us first and then WOW , she was in the garden and coming back to us on recall.

I cannot stress how much we have benefited from utilising James.I highly recommend Beta Dogs .
