Ed was courteous and professional. Informed me via text as to when I could expect his time of booking. Went over and beyond what I could have expected eg Ed photograped guttering outside my property and showed them to me.
My roof has always been a concern of mine and Ed gave my roof a look over, reassured me that my roof looked okay. I would recommend Ed to anyone seeking out his services.

What do you love most about your job?
As a roofer, what I love most about the job is the combination of craftsmanship and the satisfaction of seeing tangible results at the end of the day. There's something incredibly rewarding about turning a weathered, damaged roof into something strong, secure, and visually appealing. Each job requires problem-solving, whether it's fixing a small leak or installing an entire new roof, and that keeps things interesting.
I also love working outdoors. Sure, the British weather can be unpredictable, but being outside, even on cold days, is much better than being stuck behind a desk. Plus, there’s a real sense of accomplishment in knowing that what I do protects homes from the elements—it’s a vital role, and that feels great.
Lastly, there’s the traditional aspect of the job. Roofing in the UK has a rich history, especially with materials like slate and lead, and knowing I’m part of a trade that’s been essential for centuries gives a deep sense of pride.
What inspired you to start your own business?
What inspired me to start my own roofing business was a combination of personal ambition, a desire for independence, and the passion to build something of my own. After working for other roofing companies for years, I realized I wanted more control over the quality of work, the projects I took on, and how I interacted with clients.
I’d always had a strong work ethic and enjoyed the challenge of managing not just the practical, hands-on side of roofing, but also the logistics, problem-solving, and planning. Starting my own business allowed me to apply those skills on a broader level.
A big part of it was also wanting to provide a more personalized service. I saw gaps in customer care where I thought I could make a real difference. Roofing can be a stressful issue for homeowners, and I wanted to create a business that put them at ease—where trust, reliability, and quality came first.
Finally, the idea of being my own boss and having the freedom to shape my career was a huge motivator. Running my own roofing company allowed me to take full ownership of my success, and that’s something I find incredibly fulfilling.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients should choose me because I combine years of hands-on experience with a genuine commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Here’s what sets me apart:
1. Quality Workmanship
I take great pride in the craftsmanship of every roof I work on, whether it’s a minor repair or a full replacement. Attention to detail is at the heart of what I do, ensuring that every tile is laid correctly, every seal is watertight, and every roof is built to last.
2. Transparency and Trust
I believe in clear communication from the start. Clients will always know what’s going on with their project, including timelines, costs, and potential challenges. There are no hidden fees or surprises—just honest, professional service.
3. Personalized Service
I treat each project as unique. Whether it's a traditional slate roof in a historic area or a modern build with specific requirements, I tailor my approach to suit the property and the client’s needs. I listen to what my clients want and ensure they feel supported throughout the process.
4. Safety First
I follow strict safety standards to protect both my team and your property. From using the right safety equipment to setting up scaffolding, I ensure the job is done not only correctly but safely.
5. Local Knowledge and Experience
As a roofer in the UK, I understand the impact of local weather conditions and building regulations. I know what materials work best in this climate and how to build roofs that can withstand heavy rain, wind, and even snow.
6. Aftercare and Support
My relationship with clients doesn’t end when the job is done. I provide a thorough aftercare service to ensure that the roof continues to perform as expected. I’m always available to answer questions or handle any issues that arise after completion.
By choosing me, clients are not only getting a highly skilled roofer, but also someone who genuinely cares about delivering a reliable, long-lasting roof that offers peace of mind.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
While roofing itself is a hands-on, physical job that can’t be done remotely, I can absolutely provide certain services online or remotely to help make the process smoother for clients. Here’s what I can offer:
1. Virtual Consultations and Estimates
I can arrange virtual consultations via video call to discuss roofing issues and new projects. During the call, clients can show me areas of concern, and I can provide an initial assessment or advice based on what I see. I’ll also ask for photos, dimensions, and other details to provide a more accurate estimate.
2. Online Quotes
By gathering information remotely—such as roof size, current condition, and materials required—I can provide a detailed quote online. This allows clients to receive cost estimates without the need for an initial site visit.
3. Roof Inspections via Drone Footage
If clients have access to drone technology, they can capture footage of their roof and send it over to me. I can analyze the footage and identify any damage or issues that need attention. This can be especially helpful for large or difficult-to-reach roofs.
4. Project Planning and Communication
For clients with ongoing projects, I can keep in touch via email or messaging, sending updates, photos, and progress reports. This keeps clients fully informed even if they can’t be on-site to monitor the work.
5. Guidance on Maintenance
I offer online advice and guidance on how clients can maintain their roofs. I can provide tips on cleaning gutters, checking for early signs of damage, or what to do in certain weather conditions to extend the lifespan of their roof.
6. Follow-Up and Support
Once the project is complete, I can provide aftercare services remotely, such as offering advice on how to handle minor issues, monitoring the roof's performance through periodic virtual check-ins, or answering any follow-up questions.
By offering these online and remote services, I aim to provide more flexibility and convenience for my clients, especially those who may not be available for on-site meetings right away.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
To keep customers safe from COVID-19, I’ve implemented several measures to ensure a safe, contact-free roofing experience while maintaining high-quality service. Here are the key changes I’ve made:
1. Virtual Consultations and Estimates
Wherever possible, I offer virtual consultations and quotes to minimize in-person contact. Clients can send photos or videos of their roof, and I can provide an initial assessment remotely. This keeps everyone safe by reducing unnecessary site visits.
2. Contact-Free Site Visits
When an in-person visit is necessary, I’ve adopted strict safety protocols. This includes maintaining social distancing, wearing masks when interacting with clients, and conducting any discussions outdoors or via phone to avoid entering the client’s home.
3. Digital Contracts and Payments
To avoid physical paperwork and cash transactions, I’ve transitioned to digital contracts and invoices. Clients can sign documents electronically and make payments through secure online platforms, reducing the need for face-to-face interactions.
4. Enhanced Hygiene Protocols
For any team members on-site, we adhere to enhanced hygiene measures. This includes regular handwashing, using hand sanitizers, and disinfecting any tools or equipment that might come into contact with shared surfaces.
5. Limiting Crew Sizes
I’ve reduced the number of workers on-site at any given time to maintain social distancing guidelines. If a larger crew is necessary for a project, we stagger shifts to minimize contact between workers.
6. Daily Health Checks
Team members are required to monitor their health daily and report any symptoms immediately. Anyone feeling unwell or showing symptoms of COVID-19 is instructed to stay home and self-isolate in line with government guidelines.
7. Socially Distanced Inspections and Follow-Ups
During roof inspections or follow-ups, I conduct all communication by phone or video call, even when I’m on-site, to ensure a contact-free process. Clients can stay inside their home while I assess the roof from the outside, keeping everyone safe.
These changes allow me to continue providing essential roofing services while prioritizing the health and safety of both my customers and my team.
Replacement roofing
Re-roofing, also known as roof replacement, involves removing the existing roofing material and installing new roofing materials. This service is typically needed when a roof is severely damaged, aged, or when you want to upgrade to a more durable or aesthetically pleasing roofing option. Lead work
Lead work is an essential aspect of roofing that involves the use of lead for various applications, primarily to provide durable and watertight solutions for roofs. It’s a traditional material renowned for its longevity and malleability, making it ideal for complex roofing details.
Gutter Replacement/ Cleaning
Gutter replacement is necessary when your existing gutters are damaged beyond repair or have reached the end of their lifespan. Properly functioning gutters are crucial for protecting your home from water damage.
Gutter cleaning is an essential maintenance service that ensures your gutters are free from debris, leaves, and other obstructions. Clean gutters are crucial for directing rainwater away from your roof and foundation, preventing water damage and maintaining the integrity of your home.
