Birmingham Airport is a convenient and efficient travel hub, serving as a gateway to numerous domestic and international destinations. Located just 8 miles from Birmingham city centre, it’s easily accessible via public transport, with the free Air-Rail Link connecting the airport to Birmingham International Railway Station in just two minutes. This ensures smooth onward travel to Birmingham New Street and beyond. The airport features a single terminal, which simplifies navigation and minimises confusion for travellers. Inside, you’ll find a wide range of amenities, including shops, restaurants, and lounges, catering to different tastes and budgets. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee, a relaxing meal, or duty-free shopping, the airport has you covered. Recent route expansions by airlines like easyJet have added exciting destinations, including Marrakesh, Reykjavik, and Krakow, making the airport a great choice for winter sun or city break travellers. Ongoing renovations aim to further enhance passenger experience, with plans to accommodate up to 18 million passengers by 2033. One potential drawback is that, like most airports, peak times can lead to crowded spaces and longer queues. However, the efficient layout and well-organised operations usually keep delays to a minimum. Overall, Birmingham Airport is an excellent choice for travellers, combining modern facilities with strong connectivity. Its location, services, and future developments make it a reliable and evolving travel hub that caters to the needs of both business and leisure passengers. More...

Disappointingly (as its my local airport) this has to be one of the, if not the worst airports in the world. Endless queues from security to the departure hall even though a new security hall is now in operation the same old problems exist, lack of staff, only a limited number of scanners in operation. Worst of all is always the return into the airport, Frankfurt Airport 20 mins for luggage, Lanzarote Airport 10 mins for luggage, East Midlands 15-20 mins for luggage, Manchester 15 mins for luggage, BHX is ALWAYS an hour which is ridiculous. Returned on a flight from Frankfurt over the weekend, didn't land until 22:30 so airport quiet at that time, plane was only half full so not a huge amount of luggage yet still had to wait one hour for luggage to come through, lots of frustration and people complaining amongst themselves in the arrivals hall about how crap this airport is. As somebody else has commented and I agree, BHX is a so called 'international airport' yet it offers an abysmal customer experience which makes it an embarrassment to the local area. Just look at the amount of negative reviews on here and Trustpilot where 84% of reviews are 1 star rating!! Bottom line is nothing will improve until the management team are completely overhauled for the continued failings of BHX, although they probably think they are doing a great job!!! More...

Worst Airport I have ever experienced. Do yourself a favour and use East Midlands, Liverpool or Manchester. Security were the rudest I’ve ever experienced and I’ve travelled the world including all New York airports. Security was understaffed and I missed my flight despite pleading with security that my flight was in 20 mins, 15mins and in 10 mins. That was my experience when leaving, on arrived back to Birmingham Airport there were zero signs directing to pick up point which is 10-15 mins walk with a trolley full of cases. Avoid this airport, there are far better alternatives. More...

Quite frankly one of the worst airports in the UK, and possible the world. If you like queuing and then running to your departure gate this is the airport for you. Birmingham Airport was meant to open a new security hall in June 2024, 6 months later and it's half open, but the airport is still a building site. Endless queues and Airport staff manhandling people. A grand total of 75 minutes from the beginning of the queue to reaching departures. 8 shiny new security scanners, yet only 4 working. This used to be a fairly good airport but standards have continued to slip. The management team must take accountability for the continued failings of BHX. The fact this is an 'international airport' that offers an abysmal customer experience is embarrassing. More...

I’ve been to quite a few airports in Europe, Africa and Asia.. and this is by far the worst one! They tell you to get to the airport 2 hours before your flight and then you end up almost missing it due to the complete chaos this airport is. You have to take a lift to get to hand luggage check and then you just get into a claustrophobic queue that lasts more than 30 minutes. Everything is a mess. Then the luggage officers are slow as hell and on top they make almost everyone take their shoes off. At last we get that done, it’s already final call for our boarding… but we have to make another queue for more than 30 minutes to get into the plane. Lesson learned. Next time I’ll definitely go through London and take the train rather than going to this terrible airport. Also, the whole thing looks like it’s under renovations. The corridores look like your in a pot-apocalyptic movie. The worst. More...

Usually a well run small-but-international airport they've been struggling with recent renovations and it's a shambles. Add in completely unreliable rail services and it's gone from a go to to a no go.
