Di and her team have provided just the right amount of motivation and support to really turn around the thought processes and commitment to exercise, the results have so far been genuinely brilliant and I know they will continue. I would definitely recommend.

My husband and I have been training weekly at ActiveAims for nearly a year now. The facilities at the new gym in The Rushes are great and in such a convenient location. And with only four to a group it’s never crowded. Di and her team of trainers are really friendly but not afraid to push you to the limit - and they get results. More...

1:1 sessions with Di and Fit Friends with Elrick are great, really motivational. Have gone from feeling completely unfit after having three children to looking forward to training sessions and seeing results I didn’t know I could achieve.

I have been having personal training sessions Di for a few years now and have had great fun as well as improving my strength and fitness. The new gym space and equipment are fantastic and the addition of the new 1:4 group sessions with Elrik have provided lots more opportunities for working out. Everyone is really friendly and both Di and Elrik really take the time to get to know your strengths and capabilities. I would definitely recommend that others try out FitFriends, no matter what your current level of fitness. More...

I had a series of very successful one-to-one sessions with the witch a year or two back. Despite being a witch, Di is encouraging and motivating and she really got the best out of me. She is also adept at identifying(and dealing with) related physical and mental issues, such as posture, diet, muscular problems and maintaining a positive attitude. So I knew what to expect when I signed up for a six-session "Fit Friends" course this time round. It consisted of full-hour work-outs with no more than four attendees. Elrick, our trainer, made us work hard, but was sympathetic to our needs and very aware of any problems or conditions that might prevent individuals from undertaking certain exercises. I can heartily recommend Active Aims, and I still occasionally cry myself to sleep when I think about the witch bellowing, "you should feel this in your core - not your arms or legs. Work your core!" Brilliant gym and trainer! Have been going to Di for personal training since May 17, have now taken up a 12 months fit friends contract. Loving the training, the flexibility and results I am seeing. I feel I am pushed to do the best I can and beyond! Love the advantage of a personal trainer with maximum of 4 people in any one session. Great idea Di! More...

Di was my personal trainer for an extended period of time before I relicated to Australia. As a personal motivator she has the abillity to squeeze everything out of an individual. She makes exercise fun, is technically medically and professionally sound and has a wonderful positive outlook on life. Di is a joy to work with and to spend time with and makes a huge difference. Very good service. I lost weight, managed my stress and increased my confidence levels. The process was simple, effective and friendly. There were no diets as such and no difficult workout programmes. The clinician took the time to understand me, my lifestyle, how I thought about health and what it meant to me. It was a completely different approach which increased my determination and made me feel better about my self More...

Q&As

The biggest thing is to listen what the client wants to achieve, then help them to set realistic goals. Goal setting is hugely important as this step helps to create both motivation and commitment. The goal is then broken down into a plan, with estimated time scales for both short term and long term goals.
Many clients will need to create new lifestyle habits to achieve their goal and this can take lots of effort, time and often requires altering mindset.
I do this with both 1:1 and online clients

This is a tough question to answer, I work with health therefore it very much depends on what a client envisages by body of their dreams!
Dropping a few pounds, or reducing weight is very achievable and clients see results from small lifestyle, dietary changes and appropriate exercise prescription.
Clients who would like to tone up, get stronger, fitter or become more flexible also see results from similar interventions that don't require major change or dramatic diets - Just positive thinking and motivation for change.
However people who want significant physical change for example body sculpting often cant achieve this unless diet and exercise are paramount to their way of life. Personally I don't work with body sculpting as I don't always think its a healthy physical change.

I love helping people achieve results, weight loss clients not only lose weight, but also gain confidence and self esteem - which is worth so much.
Rehabilitating patients who have poor posture or reoccurring injuries is also very satisfying.
I think generally personal trainers can get the best out of the people they work with and I love to see people achieve and become confident.

I qualified as an exercise physiologist in 1995 and personal training was a completely new industry - we were rare. I therefore had to go it alone as gyms had not yet caught up in this country. I set up Dynamics in 1995, then later rebranded as Active Aims Ltd in 2002. I now have a large studio / gym and comfortable clinics for physiotherapy, psychological coaching and taking tests and measurements.

My qualification as an exercise physiologist is a sports medicine postgraduate, therefore it needs renewing every 5 years. To do this we have to take additional updated qualifications and CPD's; therefore not only do I have experience I also have up to date knowledge.
I have a 2nd postgraduate in psychological coaching - I took this specifically to add expertise when working with weight loss clients as the majority of this kind of work involves altering mindset surrounding lifestyle habits and food.
Other qualifications include corrective exercise specialist and golf fitness specialist
