Pretty Maid was very good value; book direct with the owners to get the best price. The house was slightly difficult to find as it was getting dark, but there was good secure parking and a warm welcome from the owners. It is on a busy road and we were lucky to have the room at the rear (no.3) but can imagine it's noisy at the front, especially if, like us, you like to sleep with the window open. The room was clean, warm and had a large comfortable bed. It had a small fridge (fresh milk was supplied) and good quality tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits by the kettle. There was just 1 upright chair which meant sitting on the bed to relax. The TV worked well and free wi-fi was available. The en-suite bathroom had a good supply of towels and was warm with a roomy shower. We did find the shower slippery when wet and commented that a rubber bath mat would be a useful addition, or a handle to grab when getting in and out. The breakfast was excellent and served promptly in a dedicated dining room. You are asked for your breakfast choices and time the night before. There is a rear garden available, with lots of birdlife, but we didn't make use of this in January. There are 2 places to eat an evening meal within close walking distance, so all in all this B & B met our needs very well. More...

A delightful house & welcoming hosts - Andy & Sue. Their home is absolutely lovely, bright, fresh & very nicely decorated. Our rooms (we booked their self catering suite which has 3 separate rooms) were spacious, comfortable, clean & well equipped. The bathroom is huge with a large corner bath, separate double shower cubicle & double basins/bathroom cabinets - there was still enough room to host a small party 😁|On my way out one day, I did peek into the vacant double room opposite and thought that, size wise, I would've also been very happy in there (had the suite not been available). |We didn't partake in the available cooked breakfast but the menu looked fabulous - many choices that should cater for everyone.|Another bonus was that there are 2 excellent independent restaurants within walking distance - The Vineyard right next door & The Ming, a short stroll away. Lovely, friendly staff, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Location was very easy to get to and rooms were average but clean, with everything we needed. The basket of toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. Only rated a star lower on the room because we were woken up very early on the Sunday morning by a loud tv/radio, presumably from the nearby guests, but we don't often get a child-free night away or a chance to sleep in a bit, so it was disappointing. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and the owners were incredibly helpful and kind. Breakfast was well made and there was plenty of it. Last night was the first ever stay at a traditional BnB for both myself and my partner, we were pleasantly surprised. We were met with a friendly, warm and very professional welcome. The room was exceptionally clean and well equipped, all of the thoughtful details made us feel genuinely cared for. Although the BnB is in a nice area, there is the added peace of mind of a security gate, of which we were given a fob for. What an amazing stay! Everything was perfect from the warm greeting (in the horrendous weather!) to the beautifully decorated rooms. Our bed was HUGE! I had to roll over in the middle of the night to check my partner was still there!!! The hosts Sue and Andy, are among the loveliest I’ve ever met… the breakfast was great both days and Andy’s joke rubber egg had us all in stitches when our 8 year old tried to crack it open 😂 I would highly highly recommend staying here and should we be in the area again we’d happily stay here. This was our second stay here and we really cannot fault anything. We stayed in the self catering room as there is plenty of space including a kitchen, dining table and separate shower and bath. Breakfast is superb-cooked by Andy and served by an attentive Sue-they really are first class hosts. Pretty Maid is well placed for very good restaurants including an excellent Chinese just across the road, as well as being well placed for other attractions. Pretty Maid is excellent value for money-you would not find anything in the Maidstone area to match this.
