Q&As

1. What you're good at. 2. What you love. 3. What the world needs. 4. What you get paid for doing.
In Japan, when all of the above apply to your vocation it's known as Ikigai or 'a reason for being'.
There's no one aspect of my job that stands out above the rest but I can say with certainty that it rewards me with ikigai.

The freedom of being my own boss combined with the responsibility of knowing I can't give anything less than 100%

I work with the individual not the condition. Every client has a unique set of requirements and circumstances which are reflected in their respective treatment and aftercare plans. I always seek to find the underlying causes of pain or dysfunction, educate the client on what's happening and why, and work with them to not only address the condition but reduce the risk of further episodes recurring in the future.

All services are provided remotely, either at the client's home or at several clinics located across Bristol.

Services

Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a couch potato, soft tissue therapy is designed for all ages and levels of ability. Treatments and aftercare exercises are tailored to meet the unique requirements of each client and target the specific problem areas. Pain levels are reduced by improving blood flow and restoring normal function and biomechanics to the affected.

Treatment involves taking a close look at posture and assessing movement patterns in order to identify the source of the issue

Suitable for everyone, whether you’re looking to improve your sports performance or enjoy greater mobility for day-to-day activities. Whether you’re an athlete or not, a sports massage could help you prevent injuries, improve your performance, and aid in recovery.

Many of the techniques are the same as those used in Soft Tissue Therapy however, the intent is on injury prevention and maintaining a healthy, functional body. Treatments may also involve assessing certain movements that have particular relevance to your specific sport, as well as testing for any common muscle weaknesses / imbalances, in order to ensure that you minimise the risk of injury.

Ideal for those looking to embark on their next fitness journey and wanting to reduce the risk of injury resulting from musculoskeletal imbalances, whether that's taking up jogging, starting a gym membership, or preparing for the 3 Peaks Challenge. It can also be beneficial in identifying dysfunctional movement patterns before they become a source of discomfort.

The MOT session covers a more detailed postural assessment as well as looking into muscle firing sequences, muscle imbalance (length, strength , hypo/hyperactivity) and common dysfunctional movement patterns. This includes:

- Common postural dysfunctions such as swayback posture and anterior pelvic tilt,
- Scapular rhythm and the relationship between the upper, middle and lower trapezius.
- Hip extension firing sequence between the lower back, glutes and hamstrings.
- Knee and ankle alignment
- Basic assessment of gait mechanics
- Checking core control during common physical movements such as jumping, squats,
and lunges.
- Breathing patterns and secondary respiratory muscle activation

Advice and exercises can then be offered to help correct any dysfunctions that may be uncovered, as well as reaffirming what's already working well.

The MOT can be tailored to your fitness goals, with focus given to key areas, but its general aim is to provide a useful, overall, assessment for people ranging between beginner to intermediate levels of activity.
