Steve has been the best trainer for our reactive rescue, Bella. Before we met Steve she was a nervous wreck going out the house but since we have been implementing what Steve has taught us she has come on so much, to where she (and us) actually enjoys a walk now. Thanks for your training and support Steve. More...

My wife and I came to Steve looking for help with our dog's separation anxiety. Steve was brilliant at providing support, answering our questions, giving us regular feedback in between the training sessions, and always willing to offer us additional support and guidance.

Highly recommended. So happy to have worked with Steve to help guide us in training our new puppy. Steve clearly loves what he does and is extremely knowledgeable not just in training techniques, but the various stages of being a pup both physical and emotional. Steve provided lots of written guides so we wouldn't forget the processes, was extremely generous with his time and listened to all concerns we had not matter how small. His advice is always well structured with proper guidance rather than ' don't worry about it thats normal'. Really put our minds at ease throughout the training. More...

Absolutely amazing from start to finish, Steve really helped us understanding our puppy (Bulba) more, how to do training and in just 3 weeks Bulba came along leaps and bounds, we had googled training etc trying to get ahead of the game but nothing can compare to the expertise Steve brought.

Steve is an absolute star! We were really struggling with Dolly but with his patience and support she is now a completely different dog. All the tips and games to play with her mean she is now more relaxed and happy overall. Even though Steve had to put up with our German Shepherd wanting to join in with everything he did with Dolly, he was super patient and professional. Can't thank him enough for his time patience and support highly appreciated. More...

We got Steve to come and help us with our new four month old puppy as he was very timid and frightened of hearing dogs barking in the distance that he couldn’t see. After two months we are seeing a huge improvement……. Most of the techniques /activities that Steve gave us to help Max have actually helped with other aspects of Max’s development. Steve followed up our training sessions with written instructions of what we needed to do which we still refer to. Hopefully our puppy will turn out to the dog we wanted but any behaviour issues and we’d be very happy to work with Steve again. Thank you Steve for all your help. More...

I worked with Steve for 6 weeks with one of my boxers. From the start he was attentive and his compassion for dogs was obvious. The transformation with my dog has been amazing. He's a lot calmer and happier and I'm also well equipped to carry on the training. Thanks Steve! More...

Steve at 99 Problems was absolutely amazing with not only our dog Arlo, but also us as dog owners. He listened to all our concerns and tailored a training program to suit our needs.
He not only helped with training Arlo, but he also trained us in how to deal with him.
He was very reassuring and I know he’s only at the other end of a phone if we need him again anytime.
I would 100% recommend him.

We had Steve come and give us three sessions to help manage the anxiety in my Shih Tzu, Rudy. Rudy's anxiety often led to reactive behaviors and biting in certain situations.
He was also very possessive of his toys, to the point of guarding them and potentially reacting aggressively.
Steve taught us simple yet effective techniques to manage Rudy's behavior and provided us with essential information on recognizing Rudy's body language. The work Steve did for us was exceptional. He went above and beyond, never clock-watching and always willing to put in extra time if needed.
We received session feedback and guidance on prep work for our next sessions. I would highly recommend Steve and 99 Problems.
Best regards,
Mike

Steve at 99 Problems is professional, thorough, knowledgeable, kind and considerate. I have worked with Steve to address my dog’s anxiety around vehicles. Whilst there is no silver bullet to this problem things are so much better for both my dog and me. Steve has a wonderfully kind technique and is a joy to work with. He always arrives on time is very flexible if appointments need to change. He is realistic about homework setting, appreciating our human busy lives. I cannot over emphasise my recommendation to anyone who needs help with their dog. Call him you won’t regret the decision - thankyou for reading this. More...

Steve was great in helping us with our 8 month old Cockapoo Hank. Hank was very protective over our little girl when we went out on walks, he would just bark. Steve helped teach us techniques to prevent this and also helps us with understanding why he was behaving like that also. Steve also taught us that Hanks behaviour was due to him going through adolescence, he was very educative in teaching me techniques to feel confident allowing Hank off his lead as his recall wasn’t great. Steve was great and I would recommended him to anybody. Thanks Steve. More...

We got Milo our first puppy in December. I have terrible social anxiety and my husband is not much better, so group classes were never going to work for us. Steve’s 1 to 1 puppy training package was brilliant. We now have a confident, socialised and well-trained pup. We would never have managed this on our own. Thank you, Steve and 99Problems More...

I used 99 problems to help with my dog’s separation anxiety. Our lives had changed beyond all recognition, we were prisoners in our own house. If we went out, Bella would howl, poo, wee and generally turn into a demon. The neighbours had complained and we were looking at re-homing her. Steve showed a detailed understanding of the condition. Just talking to him felt like a weight off our shoulders. The training was long and involved but we started seeing results in just a week or so. After 8 weeks, Bella can now spend 20 minutes on her own and her alone times are going up every day. This may not sound like much but to us it’s massive. One of the things we appreciate most is that Steve trained us as much as he trained the dog. After 8 weeks, we are confident that we’re happy to go alone and carry on treating her ourselves. We still have access to the training app. This means we don’t have any long-term bills so it makes the treatment more affordable (it's still expensive but worth every penny) If you have a dog with separation anxiety, I strongly recommend 99 problems. My now 1 year old red lab Arnie was very heavily mouthy from the day we brought him home at 8 weeks old. As he grew, his behavior continued to increase in intensity. We struggled to relax with him and he became very strong willed. I reached out to 99 problems, not only were we seen at home in a very quick turnaround, after just 3 sessions, Arnie was a completely different dog! I couldn't believe it! As Arnie approached adolescence these past few months, the mouthing returned with serious implications and we were the focus for Arnie's frustration - our hands and arms were black and blue and it wasn't uncommon for us to have to leave our living room 10+ times a night to break away from his behavior. I reached out again and was met within an incredibly fast time frame yet again. I was reassured it was nothing we have done and that Arnie isn't aggressive he is frustrated with adolescence but on a very high scale. The next day I got to work with Arnie after having my confidence reinstated and things have been great! I will never go anywhere else for Arnie's needs and will be back again for other areas of training for sure! Thank you for everything! More...

We would 100% recommend 99 problems for dog training. Our 8 month old Cockapoo Rex pulled on his lead every all and his recall outside was poor. Steve was amazing - so friendly and thorough! He taught us so much about dog training and Rex to help us understand everything more. We have seen a difference in Rex already with his lead pulling and recall in only 3 weeks and we can’t wait to see it keep developing. Even though our sessions have finished, Steve has equipped us with the knowledge and skills to carry on training Rex. We are very excited for when we can let Rex off his lead to have a proper run around with his friends! We can’t thank Steve enough! More...

What do you love most about your job?
I love helping families and dogs to enjoy their life together.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There are no big companies offering dog training. I wanted to help families and dogs to overcome the issues they have and so I started my own company.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am fully trained and qualified in dog training and separation anxiety. I operate strictly on a positive reinforcement basis. I never punish dogs for their behaviour and I will never work with clients who believe that punishing a dog is the right thing to do.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Treatment for Separation Anxiety (SA) has developed massively since the pandemic. We now know that it is better to treat SA remotely so that there isn't another person in the house confusing the dog about who is going and who is staying. My therapy is supported by an App which allows you to track and monitor your dog's progress.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Well, it's 2024 and I am fully vaccinated. If you want extra mitigations, just let me know.
Separation Anxiety Therapy for Dogs
Online therapy for dogs with separation anxiety. I am a graduate of the Julie Naismith SA Pro program for separation anxiety specialists. All modern SA training is now offered remotely. I can help support you and your dog anywhere in the UK. I offer a modern, science-based approach which recognises that your dog is suffering and needs help. Separation anxiety is a complex psychological issue, you must choose a fully qualified SA practitioner.
Puppy Training, 1:1
Puppy classes are great but they aren't for everyone. We offer unique online 1:1 puppy training, at your convenience. This isn't an app you follow, this is personalised live 1:1 training. We offer a wide range of training subjects, allowing you to select from a menu to address the issues important to you.
Aggression Therapy for dogs
Compassionate, non-judgemental training for your dog's reactivity or aggression. Aggression is almost always driven by fear. We work with your dog and you to address the fear and remove their impulse to be reactive. It is not possible to manage aggression or reactivity online. This needs to be an in-person service and so we cover Cheshire and the North West.
