Scout Photography was formed after finishing my BA hons in Contemporary photography back in 2001. Since then I have delved into most genres of photographic practice, including weddings, portraits, product and archetectural photography. My position is to get the client to relax and get things feeling natural and un-manafactured.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I'm often being asked whats the best camera by people interested in Photography. My response is always the same, "The one you have with you". But honestly, that's only part of it. The other part is a sense of what the light is doing and where to be. The antisipation of peoples movements and reactions. Placing yourself in the sweet spot where light, shadow, people and movement all converge to great a decisive moment. Not everyone can sense that, but that is what I think makes great photography and great photographers.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Too many to list here!! BUT, lets start with an important one. What's your budget? I believe in helping the client get exactly what they want, and on budget. However I have encountered people/ Companies that get carried away with expectations. I'm a bit of a softy at heart and will always go that extra mile for a client, but 5miles, 10 miles!! I have found this a great place to start when I have sat down with a client and worked out their vision.
What do you love most about your job?
The clients I meet are different every time and that adds variety and keeps me on my toes. A job that puts you in a position where you have to rise to the challenge is a great occupation. When you have achieved your goal and the client is happy, it's a sense of achievement that is it's own reward.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A desire to grow something that Inspires, fulfills and of course earns me a living.
