John was our photographer on 09.09.17. He was recommended through a friend and did not disappoint. John has a very easy going relaxed attitude which is exactly what you need on your wedding day. He captured beautiful photographs even of family members who do everything to avoid the camera. Brilliant!! John photographed our Christmas wedding on the 22/12/17. John is laid back, loves his job (you can tell) and never did we feel awkward in his company considering we are both camera shy! He arrived early, stayed till late (other photographers charge extra to stay) and blended into the wedding. We married at Mangapp Manor on 11th August and John Thompson was our amazing photographer. Seriously the nicest guy you will ever meet. He made our day so relaxed and we had so much fun with him. I cannot fault John! I hate having my photo taken and was worried I'd be a nightmare for him to work with. However he said it would be a good challenge for him so thankfully didn't see me as a diva bride! ! I found him passionate about photography and really down to earth which made me want to book him after meeting so many photographers I didn't like. Our wedding photos are amazing and I'm actually happy with how I look! The photo booth is also a great guest pleaser and great value for money. If it was possible to give John more than 5stars on here we would. He was absolutely fantastic from day 1 of our first meeting to providing our photos. Leading up to the day he was very responsive to our enquiries and on the day he was faultless! John made everyone feel very comfortable when taking photos and our guests have all commented since on how professional and brilliant he was. The photos John captured of our special day were even more spectacular than we could have ever asked for. There are many photos when we didn't realise he was there taking pictures, which shows how fantastic he was at blending in and capturing some wonderful moments. On what is - for most people - the biggest day of their lives, you want everything to go smoothly. You stress and you plan and you argue and you worry but at the end of the day you have to trust that you have made the right choices. Choosing John to capture our big day was easily one of the best decisions we made. We were already impressed with his stunning portfolio and selection of "highlights" and had high expectations - having received our photos recently John has somehow exceeded those expectations and we can't wait to share them with all of our friends and family. John is an artist - able to anticipate and plan the most breath taking shots that can only come from a potent mix of creative genius and a wealth of experience. John photographed our wedding in September this year. We absolutely couldn't fault him. He was professional but laid back throughout- his kind, calm manner made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera. He really put my husband and I at ease when taking our photos, we found we really enjoyed it. John made it fun and allowed us to be natural so we didn't feel as though we had to pose which neither of us are very good at! He is a very creative photographer and takes lots of natural shots which really captured the day. The photos came out brilliantly, these were so many that we weren't expecting as he was very discreet and much of the time you almost forgot he was there. Lots of our guests commented on how professional he was. He wasn't at all pushy when organising group shots.
He arrived at 10am to capture shots of us getting ready and didn't leave until well into the evening so captured every part of the day. A few days before he had contacted me and we spoke at length about what we wanted on the day- he is clearly extremely committed and passionate about his job which is reflected in his photos.
We would thoroughly recommend him- he was an absolute pleasure to have at the wedding and his photos are wonderful. They are honestly better then we could have imagined.

John was our photographer for our wedding on the 30th April 2017. After seeing his work for two of our friends weddings, we knew we were making a good decision. Chris & i met with John a year before our wedding & we just clicked! We loved the fact John had photographed both the church & venue before & could give advice on what did & didn't work. The organisation was stress free in the lead up, nothing was ever too much hassle if we had a quick question to discuss. On the day John met with the boys first of all, they were all very complimentary & felt at ease the whole time. John sent us our photos a few weeks ago & my godness - they are fabulous!! The 'highlights' showreel is beautiful & we received a well presented wooden box in the post too. Now to pick our favourites for the album, it's proving difficult! If you're looking at this review, please consider your search for a wedding or other special occasion photographer over; John is perfect, his style is wonderful and my only advice is to book him early to make sure you can work with him. We knew his photography was beautiful from looking at his portfolio but we also loved how easy he was to work with and how (seemingly) effortlessly he mixed with our guests, put them at ease and captured special little moments as they happened, in addition to the obligatory staged shots of course. John had taken several of our friends' wedding photos and, having seen the brilliant results, we booked him for our wedding too. John made sure he came round to see us first to discuss what we wanted from our photographs and any requests that we had in particular to ensure that he knew what was important to us. On the day itself John was friendly, professional, unintrusive and most importantly for me and my husband made us feel relaxed when having our pics done. We simply couldnt have been more pleased with the photographs. Not only did we have our own CD of every single image,plus a slideshow dvd, but we also had a beautiful album made by John, of which we had prior approval on all of the photographs. The photographs themselves were a perfect mix of naturally captured moments, the small but important touches and of course the main family/friends photos. Just recently our son turned 1 and to mark his first birthday we contacted John again to take some photographs. We were over the moon with the results as they capture our little boy and his personality perfectly. I didnt think that my son would sit still long enough to have his photo taken but thanks to John engaging my son we had tons of photos to chose from and it is incredibly hard to choose which ones to put on our wall. We were looking for a portrait photographer to take some pictures of our two boys and john was recommended to us from a friend. We were amazed how he managed to capture the personalities of the boys perfectly. He photographed the boys at our house by setting up a background and also took some great shots outside in the park opposite. He has just delivered the pictures to us and we are so happy that we wanted to recommend him to others. The pictures look amazing on the wall, and the DVD still makes me cry at the 100th time of watching it !
