PREMIERE PHOTOGRAPHY Q&A
What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The first thing is what we call 'Having The Eye', simply and not being disrespective not everyone can see a photograph out of a scene in front of them and how to make that scene make a good photograph. I can teach photographers techniques, how to use cameras and how to produce a photograph what I cant teach is 'The Eye' , that only comes with experience and practice. The other thing is knowing how to use your cameras and all of your kit to be able to get the best possible result. One thing that really bugs me is when I hear photographers say 'I will fix it in photoshop' - WRONG - Get its right in camera and improve NOT fix in photoshop.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Have you got any ideas in mind or anything specific you would like to do? Do you have any particular likes and dislikes? Do you know your venue well? What would you like us to do for you is there anything in particular? Do you or any of your family and friends who will be at the wedding have any medical issues or disabilities so that we can plan our photography to minimise any difficulties?
Again there are many more questions but we really want you the couple to fire as many and any questions to us.
What do you love most about your job?
Photography has been my life for over forty years and during that time I have met literally thousands of people, the satisfaction and the buzz I get when I have either photographed a wedding or another assignment makes all of the hard work worthwhile. To sum up I suppose you could say 'What is there not to love', photography is a wonderful hobby but an even better job.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked for over 33 years in the Police Force and it was a wonderful job and during my time in the force I learnt a huge amount about photography and I realised early on that one day I wanted to have my own photography business. During the years of my service I used to photograph weddings, events etc but I was restricted with what I could undertake. I knew that one day I would become 101% dedicated to photography and having set my business up in 2006 with us having photographed over 1500 weddings I have never looked back. This was the best decision I have ever made.
Why should our clients choose you?
You have heard all of the cliches. I love my job, I love meeting people, I want job satisfaction, we will always put 101% effort into anything we do. Yes this is all true but on top of this our approach is fun and relaxed and to be honest we want to be more than just a clients photographers we look at clients and couples as friends some of whom have become lifelong friends and we now go out for drinks and meals together. We want to give all clients, couples the very best service that we can and we treat every assignment as if it was our own. 99% effort is not good enough and in the case of a wedding when we hand over a completed album the feeling of pride we get when the couple are so happy with what we have achieved for them is so rewarding. we know that we want to do as much as we can for all other clients and couples.
