Play Lead Guitar Q&A
What do you love most about your job?
My passion as a teacher is to pass on knowledge. Playing music is of such value and it makes me very happy to help those who want to learn and benefit. Everything that I put into my teaching is a result of my own love of playing. Learning to play is about absorbing the language of music and my role is to make it possible for my students to do this. Every time I teach someone a piece or technique I adapt my approach and methods for each individual. Therefore when I instruct a student I'm not just trying the solve the present problem; I'm also thinking about their future and what will make the next step possible.
Why should our clients choose you?
Over the years of teaching one to one and running countless workshops courses, I've learned a lot about learning styles and how to approach each student as an individual. One of the most important things for a teacher to do is to tune into the student to see what approach will make the most difference for them and help them to achieve their goals. Therefore every time I teach someone a piece or technique, I adapt my approach and method for them personally.
With this in mind I want to find the best way to develop the technique they will find the most useful in the long run. This is so important because it sets the student on the right path for their future as a player and makes each next step possible as they progress.

Online Skype lessons
One to One guitar lessons taught via Skype. Lessons are arranged and booked with me via email or telephone contact. Any style of playing can be covered to the required depth through Skype lessons. Materials such as tabs, audio backing tracks or additional videos may will be sent to the student as email attachment. In my experience Skype lessons are surprisingly good for creating a greater sense of independence while playing or practising at home. I've found in the past that when students who've seen me 'face to face' and then switch over to lessons on Skype, actually made more progress in most areas very quickly. I think that it has something to do with the fact that, I as the teacher, can't actually position your hands on the guitar. So you as the student, have to listen carefully and take more control over what you are doing. This ultimately is what makes you improve as a player along with the right guidance.

'Raag School' is a foundation for musicians around the world to learn 'Indian Classical Music' on any instrument. Majoring in 'Indian Guitar adaptation' we have a page packed with videos and diagrams on the subject - Indian Guitar. Also visit these pages for an Introduction to Indian Music, and Jack's background as an exponent of this music. Individual Lessons An individual may begin learning with us on any instrument of their choice (provided it has a chromatic range). The music is delivered in the traditional 'oral method' using the musical terms and language of India. However those coming from a western background will be initially taught to use any prior understanding of theory and knowledge of their instrument as a bridge to adapt their skills to play Indian Music. If your instrument is not the guitar, then it will help considerably if you already have some technique to orientate yourself with. Provided you are comfortable in how to play the native style of your instrument, we can adapt those technique in order to apply the vocabulary of Indian Music. Workshops Our workshops are designed to enable groups of musicians to grasp the basics of using the Indian system to express and understand music. Workshops may focus on particular aspects of the music or give a general overview of the main areas of knowledge; scale syllables, rhythmic syllables, compositions and improvisation. Master Classes Master classes provide an in-depth demonstration and insight into how an Indian musician learns, develops and performs the music. This program will feature full length recitals of traditional 'ragas', a complete insight into how a piece develops and functions with vivid descriptions on the nuances that give life to the music.
