Oxford Cognitive Behavioural Therapy was established with the primary purpose, to help people who are experiencing mental health difficulties access high quality evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy. Our aim is to provide a service which is local, offers treatment quickly with the flexibility to fit around your life.

Who Can Oxford CBT Help?
Based in bother Reading Central and Oxford Headington our team have a wealth of experience helping people to overcome anxiety, worry, sleep difficulties, low mood and many other difficulties. Our aim is to teach people the skills and techniques to allow them to move forward with their lives.

What is CBT?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT is a time limited therapy which can help you achieve significant results within 6-8 sessions. CBT Sessions focus on identifying solutions to problems you are experiencing in the “here and now” by recognising the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Your therapist will help you to identify and change the way you think and respond to situations, allowing you to overcome difficulties and move forward with your life.
Evidence for CBT
Cognitive behavioural Therapy has been scientifically tested and found to be effective in hundreds of clinical trials for many psychological difficulties and is the recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Many of our clinicians can also teach you mindfulness techniques to help you reduce stress by broadening awareness. In sessions techniques will involve developing a greater awareness of your internal world (thoughts, memories and feelings) and learning with practice to bring yourself back into the present moment using your senses (sight, smell, sound, touch and taste).

We offer therapy face to face, by telephone or by Skype and our clinics are located in Oxford and Reading.

Just completed an 8 week mindfulness course with Oxford CBT. Tom led the sessions which were brilliant and have given me a new way of handling stress and being more "mindful". Some brilliant meditation techniques that can be used in everyday situations.

Managed to get an appointment very quickly. Easily accessible. Lovely counsellor who made me feel at ease. Only three sessions in but feeling better already. All payments dealt with separately.
Would recommend CBT to anyone feeling low.

By attending the eight week mindfulness course it taught me to pay more attention to the present moment. I can better recognise unhelpful thought processes before they take hold now by using the various techniques that are explained and the different meditation practices taught throughout the course. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in improving their mental wellbeing. The course was very well structured and it was great to meet new people in a friendly environment.

I've just completed an 8 week mindfulness course with Oxford CBT (6 stars). Tom led the sessions helping participants develop great meditation techniques and habits and understand how our minds work. At the end of every week you leave with a sense of calm and wellbeing which with practice can be replicated in the outside world. Loved it!

What do you love most about your job?

I work as a therapist and feel privileged and humbled by the courage people show turning up for therapy and making difficult changes to their lives. I am grateful to be in position where I and my team can help people to overcome difficulties and move forward with their lives.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired to set up Oxford CBT, seeing the importance of people receiving therapy when they felt they needed therapy and this not being delayed with long waiting lists.

I also appreciate the importance of providing flexibility for therapy times as it is important that therapy fits with other life occupations and pursuits as these also lead to wellbeing.
