So it's VE Day on Friday 8th May 2020, the country is still under lockdown and all the neighbours are starting our daily, socially distanced chat and meet up in the street at 4pm. Then we hear Churchill's famous "Fight them on the beaches" speech blasting out down the road followed by Glen Miller, Vera Lynne, Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and so much more.... Everyone looks around smiling and sees that Dave has set up all his DJ gear in his front garden and is playing a surprise and impromptu DJ set with all the music from the era.
Some 5 hours later and we're all still going having listened to all kinds of music from the 40's to 70's and right up to today, Dave had the whole street singing, dancing and enjoying what was an amazing and superb day made all that special as neighbours who'd never spoke or met before all came out to celebrate. We listened to all the classic Soul, Disco, Jazz, Big-Band, Pop, R&R music through all the decades and it was superb. A day none of us will EVER forget as new friendships were made and that's all down to Dave who entertained us all day.
It was so special so special and we can't thank him enough, the music was superb all day. Thank you from everyone on Eastcote Road.
