In my experience, one quality that too many web developers lack is good communication skills. Clients can find that very frustrating because quite often, a project brief hasn't been fully understood, or worse, trying to work out problems because a very stressful experience for the client, as their developer is unable to communicate effectively, or barely even at all.
Yes I work 100% remotely, online. I use Zoom, Google meets and Skype. Some clients prefer purely email contact, which is fine too!
