What do you love most about your job?

I was inspired to go into teaching and education because of certain teachers who had a positive impact on me personally early in my education simply because of the excitement and enthusiasm they brought into each and every lesson and instilling confidence in me. I adopted this as part of my teaching philosophy and as a result I have noticed the same impact on my students.

As a teacher, tutor and mentor I have had many opportunities to help students understand difficult concepts, view failures as a means of growth and thus develop a love for challenges, gain transferable skills that will benefit them in the future and ultimately instill a belief that they can achieve their aspirations. It is moments like those I know I made the right choice.

What inspired you to start your own business?

It’s true when it is said that we never know where life is going to take us. ..

After reaching the pinnacle of my career as a Chartered Engineer and working in industry for over 18 years I made a life changing decision to leave the lucrative profession of engineering and pursue a career in teaching. This was all because of the influence of my school teachers and wanting to give something back to society.

Since qualifying, I have taught in both primary and secondary schools and also gained over 5 years of successful (one-to-one and online) tutoring experience of primary, secondary and A-level students.

It was the encouraging feedback I got from parents and the positive change in mindset and attitude I saw in my students that gave me the courage to start my own venture in offering more personalised and tailored educational services.

Why should our clients choose you?

I can empathise with how challenging and sometimes disheartening understanding some of the curriculum content and concepts can be and my aim as a tutor and mentor is to help students get past their initial feelings of confusion, low self-confidence and frustration and unlock a passion for the subject and their true potential which is clearly evident from referrals and the results my students achieve.

So what makes Growth Mindset Education unique?

• My tried and tested teaching philosophy is all about enabling my students to become independent learners in the shortest time possible as opposed to long-term tutoring.
• Proven track record of building self-confidence in my students by helping them understand the most important concepts that enable them to tackle any question and take their learning to the next level.
• Fully qualified QTS teacher who has been graded as ‘Outstanding’ with experience of teaching in both Primary and Secondary settings including A Levels.
• Hold a Master’s degree in Engineering and postgraduate qualification in teaching English with over 18 years professional experience gained as a Chartered Engineer which allows me to demonstrate extensive subject knowledge particularly in Science and Mathematics and bring key concepts to life by relating them to the real world.
• Over 5 years of broad tutoring experience that includes KS1 - KS5 pupils.
• Provided home-schooling to the satisfaction of the local education authority.
• Successfully acquired numerous postgraduate qualifications which I use to apply new teaching strategies as advocated by experienced practitioners and postgraduate research in the interest of promoting deep and independent learning.
