The studio is a light bright space, and I was greeted with a warm smile and delighted in the clean simple beautifully designed facilities. It was a hard first class back in the heat, and I was encouraged, supported and given expert instruction by Lesley. Feeling glad and blessed that this life changing yoga is finally available in Worthing. Highly recommended. 💖🙏🔥

Don’t really do FB and have never posted an online review but feel moved to do so – such is my regard for Bex and her expertise & skill.
I’ve been to a Bex class most weeks for 2 years or so now - she is extremely professional and really really good at what she does, a breath of fresh air too. Quickly I felt a sense of confidence that my injured & aching body was in super-talented first class caring hands and her classes were going to be a laugh and not at all a chore.
Old injuries from rugby & jump jockey days and shifting firewood & a cellar of wine without bending z’knees were catching-up with me but nowadays happily find they’re struggling to keep-up with the (initially imperceptible) benefits of Pilates. Stiffness & soreness, back pain, excruciating cramps and other warning signals gradually eased, general flexibility improved and I see Pilates & Bex’s good offices as my ticket to prolonged activity as the years roll-on. Her celebration of improvement is enthusiastic & touching - she really cares about her clients.
I can also recommend Bex’s highly skilled deep tissue sports massage. In just a couple of sessions she restored full movement to and alleviated the pain in my neck which had been troublesome for decades!
Bex’s enthusiasm is infectious and her irrepressibly good nature & animated bubbly personality makes for a convivial atmosphere and an entertaining class. Everybody is made to feel special and regular hands-on guidance and a reassuring rub of the back is always encouraging.
An elephantine memory for everybody's wrinkles & ailments, x-ray eyes which spot a problem from the most subtle signs, and deep knowledge/an enquiring mind fascinated by & forever studying anatomy & healing - which combined with the expertise, care & attention everybody receives, along with eyes in the back of her head... makes our Bex a wonderful resource. Piddinghoe is blessed to have her, she does a lorra’ good around here.

OK, so I have an interest to declare...this is my sister's clinic...
However, I can honestly and genuinely say that every little ailment I have had over the years from frozen shoulders, to RSI she has completely cured for me. She has healing hands, and I couldn't recommend her highly enough.
If you need an osteopath, or other complementary help practitioner then look no further.

Since qualifying as a fitness instructor in 2003, I have been passionate in educating and passing on the benefits of the gentle and subtle movements of Pilates that are so effective in producing profound long term and sometimes life changing results. Having built up a following of local clients, I now run several group sessions and offer a one to one personal training service if required. Suitable for all ages and abilities, Pilates (pronounced Pi-lah-tees) is a system of body conditioning designed to strengthen and lengthen muscles with emphasis on reducing incidence of back pain and injury. It is an ideal anti-ageing exercise, because it tones and strengthens the muscles without the impact on joints. It improves posture and strengthens the parts of the body that age attacks, including the stomach muscles, inner thighs and upper arms. Many forms of exercise create tightening of certain muscles while overstretching others. Pilates is a method that aims to create a balance in the body, designed to cater for the needs of the individual. Because Pilates helps to increase flexibility and strengthen the muscles that support bones, chiropractors, osteopaths, back specialists and physiotherapists now recommend Pilates to people who have a recent or persistent injury. Pilates can improve physical strength and fitness in a variety of ways. Some Pilates programs promise dramatic weight loss or overnight transformations. That's not what pure Pilates is about. However, with dedicated regular and correct practice it can: Improve strength, flexibility and balance. Tone and build long, lean muscles without bulk. Challenge deep abdominal muscles to support the core. Engage the mind and enhance body awareness. Condition efficient patterns of movement making the body less prone to injury. Reduce stress, relieve tension & boost energy through deep stretching. Restore postural alignment. Create a stronger, more flexible spine. Promote recovery from strain or injury. Increase range of motion of the joints. Improve circulation. Heighten neuromuscular coordination. Offer relief from back pain and joint stress caused by conditions such as Arthritis and Fybromyalgia Correct over-training of muscle groups which can lead to stress and injury. Enhance mobility, agility and stamina. Compliment sports training and develop functional fitness for daily life activity. Improve the way your body looks and feels. Pilates is particularly good for pregnant and post natal women as it can help improve pelvic floor muscles and posture, reducing the risk of injury and pain. Pilates is one of the safest workouts available, as many of the exercises are performed in reclining or sitting positions, and most are low-impact and partially weight bearing. No other exercise system provides such a great workout while being so gentle to the body. In fact the Pilates Method is nowadays being integrated into rehabilitation exercise and into physical therapy programs designed to speed recovery of soft tissue injuries.
Helping people to change the way their body has reacted to movement for many years - to see he difference in how they hold their posture and become aware of the "mechanics" of their body. Ultimately to help relieve pain caused by poor posture and weak muscles - especially the core. To hear them say "I feel so much better since starting Pilates" is music to my ears.
I worked in an office all my working life since leaving school because it "just happened" and I didn't know what I wanted to do - as with most youngster we just don't know ourselves properly in our teens and early twenties. I started going to the gym regularly during my lunch hour and discovered a hereditary knee condition which meant I couldn't sustain too much high impact - and so I discovered Pilates. I did about 3 classes a week coupled with brisk walking 3 times a week and 1 Body Pump Class (weights work) and found it the perfect combination to fit around my busy life. My Pilates teacher encouraged me to train as a fitness instructor and I thought why not? I finally discovered in my late 30's what I wanted to do - rather ironic having been quite a lazy teenager!! So I went all in and trained to be a Personal Trainer and Pilates instructor with Nutrition and Pre and Post Natal qualifications bolted on. When my husbands job relocated down here on the South Coast we moved and I decided to set up Pilates Classes with a few to doing them after work part time but then, with the support of my husband and family I set up Gently Fit and vowed never to go back to the office again. 14 years later and here I am with 5 classes a week and several Personal Training clients a week. In my free time I walk the dog. Loving it !!
All fitness instructors develop their own unique way of teaching. From my experience of teaching Pilates for 14 years I have come to realise that no person is the same and no person is the same in their selves every week. Therefore my classes have evolved into what I call Sequence Level Pilates. I encourage everyone in class to start in level 1 beginners with me - and only progress through the levels if they feel it is right for them today. I don't believe that anyone should go to an exercise class with an "advanced for me today" attitude. We need to listen to our body's - especially as we get older. Unfortunately that is a skill that we are not good at learning. Our brains still think we have the body of a 20 year ago and we push and push until the body says "forget it - I'm on strike" - which is when we find that aches and pains start hindering our daily activities. Learning Pilates with Gently Fit will help you to slow down and relax your mind - while doing something enjoyable and beneficial for your body!!
