About Elin: Elin has worked in music for twenty years and has experience as a teacher, performer, director and as a retailer in an independent record shop. She is an experienced church musician, working currently as Director of St Anne’s Choristers. For eight years she volunteered with the Royal School of Church Music organising large choral events and examinations while also playing organ in churches throughout Derbyshire. Elin is an accredited piano teacher with Derbyshire Music Partnership and a member of the Musicians’ Union and Independent Society of Musicians. About Ed: Ed has played guitar since learning as a teenager in Wales and is now an experienced and patient teacher. Specialising in rock and metal, but covering all genres of music, Ed is also skilled in music recording and production. He has performed at local gigs, festivals and private events with a number of bands. Ed is a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors and also creates and sells components for electric guitars at Guitar Heron Electronics.

What do you love most about your job?

Here at Heron Music Tuition, we love to help you Find Your Music. We love to build confidence in learners, especially those who are just starting out, and see how they grow their skills.

What inspired you to start your own business?

We have been teaching for nearly twenty years and started because we are passionate about music and love sharing our skills.

Why should our clients choose you?

As experienced musicians and teachers, we are used to welcoming people at all stages of their musical journey. We love getting to know individuals and helping them to play the music that inspires them.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Our lessons are available in person in Derbyshire but we are also set up for online lessons via Zoom for piano, guitar, bass and ukulele. We have good microphones and cameras and can help you get set up so you get the best experience during your lessons. If there is a technical hitch, your internet goes down or the connection is slow, we will always rearrange for another time.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Since Covid, we have undertaken training and have a risk assessment available for you to see. Online lessons are made available for vulnerable students and anyone who would prefer them. We have handwashing facilities and can open windows if you're having a lesson in person, plus we have antibacterial gel available. If you would prefer us to wear a facemask during your lesson, please ask.
