Piano with Chris

****Please note my teaching prices are listed at the bottom of this description**** Hello I'm Chris! I am a Grade 8 ABRSM qualified pianist with a deep passion for music and I had my first piano lesson when I was 11 years old. My areas of interest have expanded over time to encompass a wide range of keyboard instruments such as the piano, clavichord, harpsichord, and Hammond Organ. This has led to performance opportunities in an eclectic range of ensembles and bands, as well as solo recitals. I have over 38 years of experience playing piano. I currently teach piano to students at an academy in Slough, and have also recently worked with primary school students at two schools in Harrow. I hold an enhanced DBS Certificate, a requirement in jobs that involve working directly with children or vulnerable adults. I majored in music for my degree which was awarded by the University of Leicester. As a student I performed regularly in public. I have an interest in early music and have performed in two baroque chamber orchestras. I have been a committee member of the British Clavichord Society and am a founder member of a piano performing circle which meets regularly in Wokingham and online. I perform regularly and recent activities have included performances to the Friends of Square Pianos in Chelveston, performances in the clock tower of St. Pancras Station, London, music circles, a charity recital in a historic medieval church in London as well as live online streams. I play harpsichord and recorder every month in a chamber music group, sight reading renaissance and baroque trio sonatas. I also host a YouTube channel where I perform music on piano, clavichord and spinet. More diverse musical exploits have included playing keyboards in an 8-piece funk band and setting up a Hammond Organ trio. Outside of music I am an experienced rock climber and a keen cyclist. More information can be found on my web page, which can be found under 'Social Media & Links' below. Rates: 1 hour: £33 3/4 hour: £26 1/2 hour:£19

What do you love most about your job?

I find it highly rewarding to be able to share musical knowledge and experience gained over nearly 40 years in the field, and to see clear progression in my students, whether complete beginners or more experienced students.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been performing music privately and publicly, on piano, harpsichord, clavichord and Hammond Organ for many years. I find it exciting to share some of the extensive knowledge I have gained in this time.

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer a relaxed, down to earth style of teaching, with one to one tuition tailored around the individual needs of every student. Since studying Music in my degree, it has played a central role in my life continuously, and I have gained a huge wealth of experience in this time. Currently I teach regularly at an academy school in Slough, as well as covering lessons elsewhere, particularly a primary school in Harrow. I am a Grade 8 qualified pianist, and have been certified with the highest level of background check - the DBS Enhanced Certificate.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

The recent pandemic has made it important to offer remote teaching facilities - this available on request.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I have been fully vaccinated, and provide a safe learning environment, taking into account all current government legislation.
