Black Lance Photography

Dorset

Black Lance is committed to delivering high-quality photographic images for commercial and private clients, specialising in Property, landscape and Aerial imagery. The company is run by Matt Noone, and is situated in Dorset. Products can be delivered as optimised digital online files or presented in print using the best quality materials. Matt is willing to travel, and loves nothing more than location shoots, offering drama to what can sometimes be a fairly mundane picture. Once hired, Matt sees himself as being under your direction - the client is the most important part of the shoot and as such he will always let you remain in control and offer advice where needed to get the picture that you want.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

Listen to the client - always! By allowing the client to take the lead, I can deliver what they want and in the end if they are happy - so am I.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Is there a specific look that you are looking for?
If you require some post processing, what do you need me to do - is there anything you do not wish me to change?
Are you willing to meet up before a shoot - it helps to break the ice and permits me to plan the shoot.

What do you love most about your job?

Flexibility. As a photographer I keep some strange hours. Up early for the sunrise shot, working through the day for clients and then out until night time for the sunset. The freedom I have have is brilliant and this flexibility only expands my knowledge and skill.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I spent a long time in the Army and had very few pictures of my time there. When I returned from Afghanistan I picked up a camera and fell in love with photography. After a few years of practice and some courses which professionalised the process, I decided to start taking on commissions. It has grown from there, albeit slowly, but it's a work in progress. My key motivation is to take great pictures for clients, rather than be bogged down with marketing etc.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am patient and very easy to get on with. I care about the finished product deeply, not only because I am putting my name and reputation to it, but mainly because I want my clients to remember the shoot as something which they enjoyed or has been beneficial to them and their business. Secondly, i use excellent equipment and i outsource all prints and framing to One Vision Imaging, one of the best labs in the country. I am always astonished at the quality of their service and this, of course, is passed onto the client. Absolute win!
