We are presently working with Keyhole Interiors as we have just bought a house which is in need of a large extension and modernising.
We're in early stages as we're still working with builders but have included Melinda every step of the way. At the moment we are discussing wallpaper, flooring and other materials and she has a really extensive portfolio of samples. I have such an individual and obscure taste that when I said, 'do you have anything like this' she had so many beautiful choices.
We find Melinda really on the ball and appreciate her alternative view point when making decisions as she's always saying 'have you thought about this' and she comes up with designs and ideas so much better than we could have ever thought of.
Before we bought the house we weren't 100% sure because it's a small dormer bungalow but Melinda drew a plan for us which completely makes use of all the space we have available. Her ideas were far superior to that of the builders and our own! She's turned a tiny bungalow into a functional home and we've researched property value in the area and we can guarantee that the work we are doing will pay for itself when we come to sell it on.
We like that she's relatively new because I feel that the benefit of that is that she really listens to you and tailors everything to your ideas rather than just saying, 'this is what someone else did' etc... as we want something quite unique.
I get on really well with Melinda and love that we can just sit over coffee and gets to know us so we feel she appreciates the importance of our ideas and every odd request, e.g our dog, music room, office space, future children's rooms, upstairs extensions, long term plans etc...
It's easy to become one sided with planning but because Melinda knows both of us, she remembers to think about the bigger picture whereas I'd just say yes to anything the builder says!
I can highly recommend Melinda to anyone and already have to my mother-in-law.

Katie listened & discussed our budget before coming up with fab ideas for each room. She was a source of inspiration, & great at sourcing items (for much less than we would have found them). She seemed to instinctively know what would work &,as though by magic, the house was transformed. It still gives me a thrill to wake up to what appears to be a new home!

Wanting a unique gift for my Aunt I came across the lovely snooty fox vintage. Gillian was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in providing advice and making sure I got what I wanted. My aunt absolutely loved the items I bought (bath/shower gel and reed diffuser), they look amazing and are exactly what I had in mind. Will definitely be back, thank you!

I think people have a pre conceived idea that having an interior designer will be expensive. I can assure you that using Alisa's service saved us a lot of money in the long run. We had a consultation and Alisa came to the house and guided us through her ideas for each room. We then had a written document sent to us with pictures to refer too. This meant we had a clear idea of how to move forward and didn't spend unnecessary money by making mistakes.
Alisa is friendly, helpful, considerate and above all, amazing at what she does. I cannot recommend her services enough.

Everything! I have always been creative and my mum has always been interested in interiors so from a young age we have been to loads of galleries, interiors exhibitions, markets and auctions as well as looking in interior stores and small boutiques as a weekend hobby so this has now become my hobby and I still do all of these things with my mum or by myself.
I love the fact that not one day is the same and that I meet so many different people and being able to find new products or ideas for my customers is something I get a great deal of joy from!
I love meeting my customers and helping them realise their interior dreams.
I used to work as an account manager - managing projects for a large retail supplier; although I loved managing projects and working with my customers a creative person should not be sat behind a desk and I soon realised that being sat with a paint tin or searching antiques fairs for beautiful finds was where my passion was. I started a business selling vintage furniture and home accessories from Denmark. I soon found customers asking me to style their homes as they loved how my products looked on my stand at shows and in my own home and at friends and familys. I now have a business where I can offer both styling and interior design and also sourcing of furniture and accessories.
We are a family business that offer a personal service with expert advice and a creative eye. We have the advantage of working as a retail business so we have sourcing furniture and homewares down to a fine art.

What preparation should I do before meeting with an Interior Designer?
Firstly, it is important to have an idea of what you like and don’t like. This is a really useful starting point for what styles will work for you which will be used by the Interior Designer to formulate some suitable concepts.
There are a number of ways which will help you decide your favourite styles such as:
Magazines – It is a good idea to browse through interior design magazines such as Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Galerie Magazine and Veranda.
Social media – Have a look at their social media platforms such as Instagram and Pinterest which will give you a good idea of their style and moreover will showcase their portfolios.
Local media – Take a look at their websites and see if you can find any local press coverage on any projects they have undertaken.
Visits – Try and visit art galleries, antique shops or fashion boutiques to get a sense of what styles you like.
What should I consider before deciding on my Interior Designer?
Personality fit - You want to make sure there is a good personality fit with your Interior Designer. Projects can go on for months or even years.
Client involvement - Some designers prefer consulting with a client every step of the process whereas others prefer full creative control so you want to know ahead of time what to expect. As a client, you should know how you like to work and how much involvement you expect from the start.
Inspiration - If you ask questions about their favourite projects you can get a peek into how he or she navigates the creative process.
Communication - Ask detailed questions about the firm’s strengths and weaknesses which will help you determine whether or not it is the right match for your project and timeline.
Project management style - Be sure to ask your designer how they will communicate their vision in a way that you can easily digest. Some Interior Designers manage the entire process from the design phase, through the procurement phase and the final installation. Every designer handles project management differently so it is important to have a firm and clear grasp of how your designer’s process works.
Design risks – Sometimes the initial design presentation may not be what you are looking for. The key is to be open-minded, prepare yourself for some design risks and be honest with how you are feeling. The designs should speak to you as you will have to live with them.
Past clients - It is a good idea to ask about previous projects to understand how crises are dealt with and how the designer has factored in preventative measures.
Budget - It is important to talk about budgets beforehand rather than in the middle of a project which can make a world of difference in terms of avoiding unnecessary conflict. It is worth getting a few quotations from different Interior Designers before deciding on a specific style.
How do I check the Interior Designers’ credentials?
You should look for a degree, foundation degree or HND in relevant subjects such as architecture, fine art, furniture design, interior and spatial design, interior architecture, textile design and 3D design.
Before you choose an Interior Designer, you could ask to see examples of their work, read testimonials and view before and after pictures of rooms and homes they have designed.
You could also look at their profile page on Bark and check out reviews from past customers too as well as examples of work that they have completed. This might also help you get some ideas for the types of design you need.
What services does an Interior Designer provide?
Interior designers cover a number of different aspects. They prepare detailed plans for the space showing the colour scheme, materials, lighting and soft furnishings they recommend. They also provide clients with detailed drawings, mood boards and scale models if required. Some designers will create interactive digital presentations to show you their designs. They will also show you samples of the materials that they recommend for your home.
Can I hire an Interior Designer online?
Yes, you can. An online interior designer will ask you questions about your budget and preferences, and then they will design a 'virtual' room, filling it with real furniture you can purchase - pretty neat stuff!
