What’s your interior design process?

Sarah Parker Interiors understands that everybody has their unique style and ideas on interior design and that’s what makes the job so interesting, but sourcing that perfect piece of furniture, fabric or accessory can be extremely stressful and time consuming. Not to mention project managing the tradesmen! So let us help, give us a call and let’s turn your home into that tranquil haven you’ve always dreamed of.

Free initial consultation - Once you contact us we shall visit you for a free initial consultation (subject to location) where we can discuss your requirements, ideas and budgets for any works you want us to undertake.

Estimate - We shall then prepare an estimate for all the works to be carried out. Once agreed upon, we will then carry out a detailed site survey and discuss your specific requirements, tastes, likes and dislikes in finer detail.

Design presentation - Depending upon the works to be carried out we can then start designing for you to include a floor-plan to illustrate furniture placements including any bespoke fitted pieces and a mood board with suggested colours, window treatments, lighting, accessories, wall and floor coverings etc. I can then either leave you the plans to carry out and source the materials and contractors yourself or I can produce a design schedule for you.

Design schedule - The design schedule will include detailed costs of each individual item of furniture, wallpaper, fabric, fixtures and finishes etc. that you wish us to source on your behalf. In addition if you want to use our contractors for the decorating, electrics, plumbing, cabinet making etc. more site surveys will be undertaken and individual estimates supplied. Once all budgets and estimates are agreed I can then purchase on your behalf.

Project management - If your project involves building works we can either draught the plans for you and deal with all planning and building regulation matters or work alongside your architect to project manage and supply reputable contractors if required. It is always preferable for an interior designer to be involved at the building stage as it is far easier to have lights, electrical sockets and plumbing positioned exactly where needed rather than modifying retrospectively.

Fees - Sarah Parker Interiors offers a range of tailor made services to suit all budgets and requirements, which can be discussed at the initial consultation.

Which interior design styles can you cater for?

I cater for all styles and love all kinds of interiors, bar Rococo/Renaissance. I enjoy the challenge of creating a new style too, with colours and textures that suit the individual client. I have completed classical homes, country style, contemporary/modern, shabby chic, elegant, coastal, industrial, colonial but most importantly whatever style you choose I always ensure that it's homely and completely suited to the person/s, pets living there. A family or country home must be practical, whereas a single person need not have such considerations.

What do you love most about your job?

I like colours and patterns and the design and shapes of different furniture, that's why I got into interior design in the first place. I enjoy re-designing areas to make them feel lighter and brighter, but to retain a nice homely, comfy feeling. My mum was a dressmaker when I was younger and I always loved tgoing into the shops to look at all the different colours and textures of fabrics and my father was a structural engineer, so I would spend quite a few hours at the drawing boards with him, so the drawing of scaled floor-plans or the design of a new piece of furniture comes almost naturally to me.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My husband and I have extended and renovated various different styled houses over the years. And when friends and family started to ask me to help them with their own homes, I found that I really enjoyed spending the time to find that perfect piece of furniture or fabric etc.

Why should our clients choose you?

Because I am able to provide the complete package from start to finish.
