Hear from
a professional

What do you love most about your job?

1.) You get to build the stuff people depend on

How many professionals in other industries can point at the brand-new hospital in town and say, “I helped build that”? Whether it’s a road, a home, a sewage system or a school, the things you build matter to the people in your community.

2.) A strong construction industry equals a strong economy

The U.K.economy’s strength is tightly linked to the construction industry. Construction projects provide jobs, inject both funds and new life into a community, and create the infrastructure critical to keeping the country moving forward.

3.) It’s all up to you – your skills make it happen

As you work your way up through the ranks, you’ll find new ways to use both your mind and your hands to get the job done. For those who are relatively new to the field, pay attention to the guys who have been in construction for decades. They know their stuff because they’ve been working hard, observing and learning all along the way.

4.) You get to see immediate results from your work

At the end of every day at work, you’ll be able to see the progress you and your team have made. Watching that progress turn into a completed project, day by day, is one of the most rewarding parts of a construction job. (yeah, we know – there’s days where it seems like nothing gets done, but let’s focus on the good stuff here).

5.) Every day is something new

Forget the boring 9 to 5 cubicle jobs — every construction site brings new, interesting challenges. You’ll also get to change things up with each new project, and avoid job stagnation that leads to burnout.

6.) You get to collaborate with a team

Collaborating with your team to overcome obstacles and fix problems on the jobsite is another way you’ll put your skills to use. Strong networks are formed on construction projects because everyone on the team depends on everyone else to get the job done. Yeah, some of the people you have to work with will drive you nuts, but at the end of the day you get the job done together.

7.) All these benefits and you get paid too

Whether your passion is carpentry, engineering, or IT, there’s a place for you in construction.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Flexibility. Work your own hours.
More spare time (eventually). Spend more time with your family and friends. ...
Call the shots. Nobody else is going to set the rules. ...
Set your own deadlines. ...
Create your own environment. ...
Pursue your passion. ...
Create something from scratch

Why should our clients choose you?

We take pride in working with every one of our clients to create exciting, liveable spaces that look attractive and add value.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?

If your looking for a speedy and affordable way to add living space to your home, this is one of the ways to do it. Now if your thinking "can I do this" then consider the following elements before you make an evaluation. Make sure you know all legal issues involved including:
- Restrictive clauses
- Planning permission
- Building regulations

Other potential issues could be:
- Do I live in a listed building
- Would your drainage be affected
- What insulation would you need

What kind of garage do you own and is it suitable for conversion?

- Single garage - A single garage will add around 150 square feet of floor space to your home.
- Double garage - You may either convert the whole area, or just the nearest side to your house. If you convert it all, you can expect to add around 300 square feet of floor space to your home.
- Tandem garage - As before, converting only the back will leave you with the best of both worlds.
- Standalone garage - Careful, as you may need to make an application for permission to change its use.

Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?

Step 1

Remove the garage door, unless you plan on making a three-season room to include sliding screen or glass door. Build a wall that closes in the garage-door opening, incorporating a window if it is part of your design plan.

Step 2

Insulate the walls, since most garages are kept cool and have none. Either add insulation in sheets and cover it with drywall, or have it blown into the walls and then cover them. Use a mask if you are installing your own insulation sheets. Consider hiring a professional if you plan to use blown-in installation.

Step 3

Add a closet, or if it is part of your plan, a bathroom at this stage of the renovation. Install lighting that matches the rest of the house. Determine if the garage can be connected to the main heating source of the house. If not, install an alternate heating source. Ensure that the door connecting the entry from the garage to the rest of the house is inviting.

Step 4

Paint the inside of the room. Next, either install carpet over the concrete floor or create a new floor of laminate or tile. Decorate the new room with your theme and add furnishings.
