James Flint, the Party D.J.

I have been a professional DJ since the age of 19. Once established I became booked out (at my busiest) 6 to 7 nights per week. During 2021, since the summer, I have been out regularly 3 nights per week, providing a mix of DJ nights (typically private events) and very professional karaoke, which I do every Sunday in Winchester for a huge crowd of university students. I welcome new enquiries and bookings from all over the south coast.

What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?

With regard to the music, that would be keeping as many people happy as you can at any one time. Also, getting the party properly going at the right time, that's important too - that would be sometime well after the start of the night, first drinks well behind, with at least nearly all the guests having arrived. It's a two way thing, too, between those guests that are destined to be at the forefront of the party (I'll soon know who they are :) ) and me the D.J. After so many years in the business, it's something that just comes naturally now.

How would you describe your ‘style’?

My style - I'm a music entertainer, D.J, not an operator of DJ equipment. It's about giving my guests a great night.

What do you love most about your job?

I'm lucky to be able to say that it's a passion, and always has been - the social side, combined with the music, meeting new people, and going to places I'm never been before. I've been to some beautiful hotels right in the middle of the summer - once I played a massive show in the grounds of Beulieu, it's lifetime memory that I shall never forget.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I never got inspired to start my own business: I wanted to become a DJ, and that was just the way it was done, as is still is today.

Why should our clients choose you?

I am a top choice D.J. on the books of a handful of agents across the south coast, from Portsmouth to Bournemouth - one agent describes me as his #1 artist, and the choice when clients request a D.J. with a great personality. My years of experience, and the range of services I offer, mean that I can adapt to any party situation, whether it be less mainstream genres of music

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

No. I'm an entertainer that thrives of live, real life environments. If I loved remote work, I'm sure I'd be a radio DJ by now. :)

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I am now always happy to provide a pop shield (which is fabric like a pair of tights) when using microphones for either speeches or singing (customer to request in advance).
