Paul Fewtrell
I live in a small but old cottage near Dumfries (100+ years old approx) and about a month ago I suffered the indignity of a failed cold water storage tank in my loft. Having relevant insurance against this nightmare didn't save me and in actual fact let me down quite badly; another long story! I subsequently was contacted by Mark of Gas & Associated Trades, in the guise of the proverbial knight in shining armour, in that he responded to my request for quite urgent assistance very promptly. Initially, the plan of attack was to replace the tank, but on closer inspection, Mark informed me that my system was potentially going to let me down at some point and the gist of this was possibly that it should be in a museum and not in a residential property. No surprise there, as central heating was something I overlooked when moving in some 7 years ago and subsequent laziness halted any progress of this consideration. At no point did Mark make me feel that I was being given some sales spiel and he patiently waited for my decisions on various things, so I can say without doubt he wasn't simply generating work for himself; simply providing sound information and allowing me to digest it and make the decisions. In fact I think he may remember my loft for a few not too pleasant visits, regarding the awkward space, nails and my not receiving a law suit for his injuries! I look back now and consider that the tank failing and Mark arriving were something of a blessing in disguise. I asked Mark to go ahead and provide me with a quote to install an LPG central heating system. He did this the very same evening and work began the following week. Without hestitation, I would say Mark is the consummate professional within his field. He arrived over the six days of this installation when he said he would, worked extremely hard and cut no corners. His work is very much that of someone who takes a pride in what he does and addtionally, despite a number of minor headaches he encountered during the process due to the design of the property, he copes well with problem solving and I am extremely satisfied with everything he has achieved for me. For those, like me, who dread the potential mess this sort of work involves, it has to be further stated that Mark made very little mess and each evening cleaned up after himself, so I have no complaints there either. His quote was more than a fair one, his work ethic to be applauded and I've enjoyed his company, which all adds up to an experience one would normally dread, but Mark has made it much more bearable. Nothing seemed too much trouble for him and I would say he even goes out of his way to ensure that the customer receives the end product that perhaps he would want in his own home; surely the sign of someone with old-fashioned trade values, a rare commodity these days. Thank you Mark and I can assure anyone who is pondering a similar venture that you will be in capable hands with Gas & Associated Trades.
