Polly Douglas

I have worked as a singer since the age of 12, when I my singing teacher gave me the opportunuty to perform as a classical soloist at wedding ceremonies every weekend. It didn’t take me long to branch out into other styles too. Since then, I have had the pleasure of singing at a wide range of occasions from small private parties to big formal dinners and many, many weddings! I now sing regularly with my jazz quartet, Bereley Square. We are all experienced, professional musicians and comprise piano, double bass, saxophone and vocals. Our repertoire ranges from slow, smooth jazz classics and up-tempo swing of the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s to Post-Modern Jukebox and Puppini Sisters-esque jazzy interpretations of more modern pop hits. You choose! (We also have an exciting Vintage Christmas selection to add a little spakle to your seasonal soiree!) My two rock covers bands are also made up of five very experienced, professional musicians and consist of drum kit, electric bass, lead guitar, acoustic guitar, piano & synthesizer. Three of the band are lead singers which gives us a great deal of versitility and a full vocal sound. The Jukes covers band play a wide range of popular genres from across the decades (1960s to present day) encompassing rock, pop, soul, Motown, country, indie and will tailor our performance to any preferences you express at the time of booking. If there is a particular decade or style that you and your guests enjoy, just let me know when we aew taking your reservation. If not, then you can just trust us to be a live Jukebox of hits to keep the dancefloor jumping all night long. Rock of Ages is made up of the same five instrumentalists and singers as The Jukes, but will bring you an exciting show of purely classic rock from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s to the present day. Air guitars at the ready! As professional musicians we take great pride in not just offering the same 30 or so songs to every audience we play for, but in listening to the needs of each client and tailoring and rehearsing our set to best suit each particular event. For smaller venues and budgets, I can offer a solo show using top quality, professional backing tracks recorded by pro musicians (not the cheaper midi sort). You can select almost any style of music or era at the time of booking. This option is perfect for small, private parties or residential homes. Care homes and community events - since first training as a singer I have enjoyed giving frequent performances at care homes. Whether your residents are young retired people; older adults; have memory difficulties or are a mix of ages with specific health concerns or sensory sensitivities; I can adapt my performance to cater for your needs. I have been fortunate to receive many repeat bookings to residential homes and the feedback has been that this is because I am sensitive to the needs or residents. We are used to liasing with venues and event planners as well as directly with clients and have full public liability insurance through the Incorporated Socity of Musicians. Proof of this can be provided to venues or organisations on request. Please don’t hesitate to make contact and speak to me personally to discuss the music for your event. Polly Douglas

What do you love most about your job?

Meeting clients and offering a bespoke service, tailored to each individual's requirements.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I enjoy the variety that comes with being a freelance professional musician. No two venues, students or performances are ever the same. This motivates me to continue to develop my skills (20+ years after I completed my music degree) to offer the best possible experience to all clients.

Why should our clients choose you?

I will listen to what it is that YOU need and build the services I offer to fit your tastes and requirements.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes. I can provide lessons in singing and music theory over Zoom, Skype or even FaceTime. Please contact me to discuss how this might work for you.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

Polly and all members of each of the bands she works with are fully vaccinated against Covid19 and take regular lateral flow tests.

We wear masks in line with current guidance until our performance begins. We provide our own hand sanitiser and can perform from behind a clear, perspex screen if requested by the client at the time of booking.

Please ring or message me for information about remote singing and music theory lessons.
