Since its launch in 2008 Sew In Brighton sewing school's range of courses, workshops and classes have helped hundreds of people go from absolute beginner to confident and creative stitcher - making & altering their own (and family's) clothes and soft furnishings, meeting likeminded locals & finding a wonderful way to relax. Sew in Brighton owner and teacher Kat Neeser has 33 years experience of fashion design, sewing and pattern cutting. She ran her own fashion label in London, including a garment manufacturing unit, retail store & an international wholesale business. She has been teaching sewing and pattern cutting in Brighton for nine years and is particularly excited about helping students to make great-fitting, original clothes and beautiful, professional fashion/home accessories Sew In Brighton holds 10-12 classes, courses and workshops every week in Brighton & Hove for all levels - from Absolute Beginner to Experienced stitcher. We have a team of friendly and encouraging teachers (including Kat) who have a variety of skills and expertise on a huge variety of subjects - including making & fitting clothes, overlocking, curtains and blinds, knitting, pattern cutting, designing, lampshade making, alterations and much more. What do you love most about your job?

Creating new courses, meeting new teachers and coming up with new course ideas with current teachers. teaching our Stitch Sewing & Dressmaking classes as people are all working on something different and I love the challenge to keep everyone sewing at once!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been sewing since I was about 5 and making clothes since age 13 - that's 42 years at time of writing! I am passionate about teaching others to sew and make clothes that fit.
