NEWBORN AND FAMILY I’m a mum. I know the love you feel for your children: that overwhelming first cuddle, the way that tiny newborn bundle fits perfectly in the crook of your neck, the first tooth and the toddler giggles. There’s so much happening in those early years. So many changes as they grow. Blink and you’ll miss those fleeting moments – a special glance between siblings, the first birthday cake, the wobbly first steps. You know your children best, so we work hand in hand, whether that’s in your own surroundings, a place you love or my homely purpose built studio. For children with energy to burn, I love to venture outdoors, where Mother Nature combines with the delights of motherhood to provide a natural backdrop to pictures you’ll adore forever. My years of professional experience working at a fast pace and with top technology at my fingertips means I can capture those perfect moments before little ones’ energy fades. Creating pictures today that will make you smile for years to come. YOUR WEDDING DAY It’s the biggest day of your lives, when everyone’s eyes are on you. That was me recently - I was a bride too. So I know how it passes by in a blur. That’s why capturing it all, to reflect on time and again, is so important. The romance, the laughs, the stolen glances and the solemn moments. The soft colours of the flowers, a tiny detail on a dress… I also know you need space to enjoy your day. It’s your wedding, after all. I love to come up with fresh ideas to make your wedding photographs unique and special to you both. My years of working as a photographer and editor for major newspapers means I know what makes a show-stopping, eye catching, once in a lifetime shot. It's your big day. Together we'll make it even more memorable. PRESS, MARKETING, PR Breaking into the world of photojournalism is tough. You need an eye for a front page picture, the ability to produce great results quickly every time, under the greatest pressure. Above all, you need the ability to connect with the people in front of the camera and on the sidelines. For more than 20 years I worked with some of the UK’s biggest newspapers. My pictures have appeared in the Scotsman, Scotland on Sunday, the Daily Mail, the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian and the New York Times. I’ve photographed royal visits and terror incidents, everything from the funeral of the Queen Mother to London Fashion Week. In Malawi, I witnessed the remarkable work of Water Aid and saw the harsh reality of life for the world’s most vulnerable children. Amid poverty and despair, we still managed to smile together for images that are among the ones I cherish most. Now based in the Scottish Borders, I’m ideally placed to meet clients’ needs across Scotland and the north of England. Whether it’s a PR shot for your business, a marketing brochure, a fast turnaround for a busy picture desk, I can help.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

As a professional photographer I think the most important aspect to great photos is building up a good raport between you and your clients. That way you get the most natural looking, beautiful images that you will want to treasure forever. I particularly love photographing children and I don't mind acting crazy behind the camera in order to get that perfect shot! I pride myself on being able to get along with people and help make them feel at ease and I believe that shows in my work.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

I think it is important to know exactly what a client expects from their shoot. Whether they want natural outdoor photography or fine art studio photography. Both disciplines are beautiful and I love to shoot both styles - for some clients one style may suit more than the other or a client may have a set idea on what they want. To get the right images is the most important aspect of the services I provide as a photographer. I want my clients to treasure their images for years to come, to feel pride and love each time they look at them. Good photography is something that lasts a lifetime. I also like to be sure the package a client chooses is right. I offer many options and also can personalise packages so each client is getting the most out of their shoot. I like to chat to each client before our session and go over their needs, expectations, budget and above all the type of images they want to see on their wall.

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting people. My job allows me to build new friendships and continue existing ones as I am often asked back to photograph children as they grow. This is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work. It is truly a privilege to see a family blossom and be with them to capture each milestone :)

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been a photographer for over two decades. I decided to go it alone after having my own children and realising what an important and brief time it is in people's lives. Photographs have the power to freeze time, capture a moment forever. Little ones grow so fast and I wanted to help preserve those memories and milestones for parents, like myself, through the power of photography.

Why should our clients choose you?

I put my heart and soul into each and every shoot that I do. I only finish shooting when I know that I have taken a variety of show-stopping images you will want to adorn your walls, albums or desktops. I take pride in offering a well presented selection of images in which my clients can choose from in the comfort of their own home, without feeling under pressure. My expertise are with you from the moment you choose me to be your photographer, through to the final edits, printing and beyond. Every session is personal to me and I want my clients not only to take away a great set of images, but to have had an amazing experience that they will remember.
