What do you love most about your job?

Meeting different people and creating great images in a range of different settings and also having fun at the same time!

What inspired you to start your own business?

When I took early retirement very recently it gave me the chance to take my life long passion for photography and use my skills and knowledge to produce great images and memories for others not just for my family

Why should our clients choose you?

I am reliable, mature, friendly and have a positive outlook on life and on my photography and I love providing a great service for all clients. I have the very latest (and very expensive!) professional cameras and lenses and some lighting and am proficient in post production using Lightroom and Photoshop. I can provide images in a variety of forms ranging from printed (and professionally framed if required) and albums through to USB memory or CD. I can also format images for web / Facebook / social media if required. I have completed specific training for wedding photography from a nationally recognised wedding photographer (Epic Photography) and I am also completing specific training to provide services to people with autism in a way that will complement their needs. I also hold an up to date certificate under the Disclosure (Scotland) regulations around my ability to work with children and vulnerable adults.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

I am a story teller, not just a documentary style photographer. I am inspired by location, design, beautiful interiors, natural light and all of the above play a part when planning a shot.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

Can you tell me about how you see the outcome of this project in your mind?

Are there any special locations, events or people that must be included to make it a success?

Who will be the intended audience for the images and are they for print or for display on-line?

The number of photos that your photographer will take will depend on the type and duration of the photoshoot you book. You won’t see most of the photos either. This is because your photographer will take duplicate photos in case anyone blinks or looks away. They’ll then delete any photos that don’t come out quite right before showing you the final selection. A one-hour family photoshoot will typically generate between 30 and 60 finished photos.

What you choose to wear for your photoshoot is a personal choice. It’s important to choose an outfit that you feel confident in, as this will help to put you at ease during your photoshoot. Try to avoid busy patterns as these may blur on photos. If you’re having a family photoshoot, it’s a good idea to co-ordinate your outfits to ensure that you don’t clash with each other.

There are a few things that you can do to prepare your children for a photo shoot. Firstly, tell them about the photo shoot and help them to get excited. This will give the best chance of capturing smiles on camera. It’s also a good idea to make sure that the photo shoot doesn’t conflict with nap times and that your children eat, drink and go to the toilet before the photoshoot begins.
