Croydon Guitar Lessons

Welcome to Croydon Guitar Lessons! My name's Al Wreaves and I'm a full time guitar teacher, session musician, musical artist and songwriter - I teach online and from my house which is just a 10 minute walk from East Croydon train station. After completing a performance Diploma at The Academy of Contemporary Music and a BA Hons Music Degree at The University of Southampton, I've taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities both privately and in schools. My aim is simple - I want to help you get better at playing the guitar! By booking a free 1 hour consultation lesson, I'll be able to analyse where you're at with your playing and we can discuss what you'd like to achieve. I'll then explain exactly what you need to do in order to achieve these goals through a structured, progressive practice routine tailored to your specific musical interests. If you're a complete beginner and have no idea where to start, that's ok! I'll guide you step by step through the basics and have you playing real music in no time :-). I've taught hundreds of students who had never even touched a guitar before - with a bit of hard work and a little patience, you'll be surprised how quickly you pick things up. Feel free to drop me a message - let me know a little bit about yourself and any musical experience you may or may not have, then we can book in your first free lesson! Thanks! Al

What do you love most about your job?

I get to help students work towards and achieve their musical goals and it's one of the most rewarding and inspiring things I've ever done!

What inspired you to start your own business?

When I started learning the guitar, I found the process of knowing what to practice, where to find the right resources and in what order to do things very overwhelming and at times off-putting. Whilst it's great that there are so many ways to learn the guitar online, it can be quite confusing without a tutor/mentor and so I wanted to help guitarists avoid the mistakes/roadblocks that I went through whilst learning.

Why should our clients choose you?

First and foremost I'm a friendly, patient approachable person who will go above and beyond to help my students. After every lesson I send each student a "Lesson Notes" e-mail with a precise breakdown of what to practice for our next lesson. I also tailor lessons specifically to the interests of each individual student, all the while ensuring that the core elements of mastering the guitar (irrespective of genre) are covered at the same time. I'm also a very experienced musician and teacher, having taught hundreds of students of all ages and abilities, in schools and privately over the last 10 years.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I offer Skype/Zoom lessons for any student that would like online lessons. It can be a great way to ensure you still have the support and tutoring you're after without having to leave the comfort of your own home. I offer all new students advice on how to get the best out of online lessons with regards to your home computer setup and music software that will aid in the learning process. If you have any questions about how this would work, feel free to drop me a message!

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I've offered all existing students and new students the option of continuing lessons online via Skype/Zoom. I am also taking regular lateral flow COVID tests for peace of mind for my students who travel to my home studio for lessons. If you have any questions or concerns about the safety of any of this, drop me a message!
