MSc Qualified Play Therapist specialising in Play Therapy for children aged 3 to 12 years, located in South Wales. My practice uses a child centred approach and is influenced by theoretical studies in child development, attachment and neurobiology. Some child therapists take a solution focused approach. However, I believe a child will bring what is important to them into sessions and at a time that is appropriate for them. I feel it is important to work at the child’s pace and to explore what is important to them. I use a variety of play material: including a sand tray, puppets, arts and crafts, small figures, play doh and lots more to engage children in their therapeutic journey. I am also a qualified English teacher with eight years classroom experience and 3 years private tutoring where I have supported pupils with emotional and behavioural difficulties who are no longer accessing main stream education. I have also worked as a local authority foster carer for 6 years caring for children with a range of complex needs.
Every day, I have the privilege of helping children navigate their emotions, heal from trauma, and develop vital coping skills in a safe and supportive environment. The creativity and flexibility of the work makes each session engaging and unique. Witnessing the growth and resilience of my clients is incredibly rewarding, and it reaffirms my passion for this meaningful profession.
After witnessing the transformative power of play therapy in various settings, I realized the immense need for specialized and individualized care. The autonomy of running my own practice allows me to implement innovative, child-centred approaches and to create an environment where every child feels valued and understood. This drive to make a deeper, more personal impact on children's lives has fuelled my decision to embark on this entrepreneurial journey.
Clients should choose me as their play therapist because of my unwavering commitment to creating a safe, compassionate, and empowering environment for children to explore their emotions and experiences. My extensive training and experience in play therapy equip me with a deep understanding of child development and therapeutic techniques, ensuring that each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of every child. I prioritize building a trusting relationship with my clients, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued. My dedication to continuous learning and professional growth ensures that I am always providing the most effective and up-to-date therapeutic interventions.
Initial consultation can take place on line but Play Therapy can only be done in person. I have a dedicated Play Therapy space at my home with a separate waiting area for parents/ carers.
