We first met Steve earlier this year. We’d had some major landscaping work done a couple of years ago but hadn’t got round to planting out the area largely due to the fact that we had no prior knowledge or experience of gardening and basically didn’t have a clue about which plants to choose. Our garden posed some problems as the land is steeply sloped, south facing, quite exposed and adjacent to open farm land so visits by the local rabbit population have been a problem in the past.

We placed an advertisement with Bark and our first few replies were frankly very disappointing. Thankfully we eventually had a reply from Steve at White Rose Horticulture and, at our first meeting, it was clear he was of a very different calibre!

We liked him from the outset - he was friendly, very approachable and clearly very knowledgeable.
We gave him a rough idea of what we were looking for which, from our very limited knowledge, amounted to little more than what colour flowers we liked and that the garden should be as low maintenance as possible.

So Steve set to work noting the orientation of the garden, drainage issues, taking soil samples for analysis and went away to plan our garden. We didn’t have to wait long before Steve returned with a plan of the garden along with a list and quantities of the plants he felt would do well in our garden. He was clear from the outset that we could make any changes if we wished (we didn’t) and that at this stage we would just be charged for the planning and that we could take his plans to be utilised by someone else if we so wished. We were so impressed by Steve that this decision was an easy one to make!

Once we had commissioned Steve to go ahead with all the work we were given a vey clear timeline for the work and all the costs involved.

To say we are delighted with the outcome is an understatement. The garden looks wonderful and Steve has been what we hoped he would be and more. We cannot recommend him highly enough. More...
