Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing.There was an issue with the postal service which resulted in part of my order going missing. To be fair, my initial emails were responded to and I explained which box had not arrived. In hindsight, I may have wrongly assumed the company would automatically know which items were packed in each box.However, when I was unable to get hold of the company by phone and my last email went unanswered, I became concerned about how to resolve the issue. I mentioned that I might need to raise a dispute, which I did simply because I didn't know what other options were available if I couldn't make contact and get the matter resolved.What followed was completely unexpected. Rather than receiving help to resolve the problem, I was met with a series of emails from Robbie that felt aggressive and confrontational. He then called me and continued in the same tone. As a customer, I was left feeling attacked rather than supported at a time when I was simply trying to resolve a missing order.When I explained that I felt the way I was being spoken to was not good customer service, I was told that I didn't understand what customer service was because I hadn't worked in the industry for years. I found this dismissive and unprofessional, particularly as I was simply trying to resolve a missing order.I also mentioned that I intended to leave a review based on my experience. The response I received suggested that my feedback was of little concern because the company already had many positive reviews. This left me feeling that my concerns as a customer were not being taken seriously.The delivery issue itself was caused by the postal service and I appreciate that this was outside the company's control. However, the way my concerns were handled was entirely within the company's control. Being spoken to in a confrontational manner by both email and phone was extremely disappointing.I've never experienced customer service like this after making a purchase. It was nice, lovely setting, staff very welcoming. Unfortunately we received a welcoming drink of a glass of champagne, to be offered a quarter glass. While I observed others getting a full glass, which I didn't appreciate. Food was ok, not value for money. No record of us pre ordering and paying our two bottles of champagne. Altogether would I go back, absolutely NOT. We did enjoy company from other tables. Have experienced hospitality at other racecourses and would not return to York. Sorry. Disappointed with it. We did miss seeing our lovely clients during the pandemic but thanks to our line of work and processes, we are able to work just as effectively remotely with Zoom meetings, emails and phone calls.
