On my very first lesson (a very nervous one) I was made to feel at ease. Dominic explained what we were going to be doing and also asked me what I was hoping get out of my lesson's.
I never knew that there was so many vocal warming up exercises! Some were quite strange but before carrying out the exercise,Dominic explained what the particular exercise was doing to my vocal chords,so not risking causing damage to them.
No attempt to sing was carried out until the full range of warming up was completed.
I must say that it really does work, and after a few verses of "abide with me" were duly sung accompanied by Dominic on the acoustic guitar,he had a pretty good idea of my vocal range and explained how we were going to improve it both up and down the scale.
I never knew that we have a "Head voice" and a "Chest voice" but we do, and we worked on going from one to the other seamlessly. This took many attempts but eventually we nearly got there(apart from the occasional squeak)
Every lesson I had was always carried out in a truly professional manner, having a laugh and giggle along the way.I am impressed with Dominic's knowledge of vocal training and his level of dedication to help enable me to sing as good as I am able.
It's a shame that we don't live closer now than before ( some 150 odd miles away) otherwise I wouldn't hesitate to carry on receiving such an excellent vocal coaches teachings.
