What do you love most about your job?

My name is Martyn Meekums. I am the founder of Orion Investigations & Intelligence Limited, and the Senior Investigator.
So, what do I enjoy most about my job?
I enjoy the diversity of assignments my clients ask me to undertake. Every investigation presents unique challenges. No two jobs are ever the same and I genuinely want to do my best for those who place their trust in my company, Orion Investigations & Intelligence Limited. This is demonstrated by the sheer number of positive reviews I have received from delighted clients who have entrusted me to work for them.
The Ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle said, "Quality is never an accident. It is the direct result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution"
Those words hold true today and they are the Orion mantra. Every member of my Team at Orion continually strives to improve the quality of service and to exceed customer expectations.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I served 34 years as a career detective with Sussex Police. I only left the Police because I was recruited to be the Global Intelligence Manager for a household name multi-national computer company.
I didn't enjoy working in the corporate world, so I decided to set up Orion Investigations & Intelligence Limited in 2014 in order to make the best use of my professional knowledge and investigations experience.
I take pride in always delivering best in class investigations, exceeding customer expectations, and always providing excellent value.

Why should our clients choose you?

You should choose me because I am a REAL detective who you can trust to get the job done without breaching your confidence, and without charging you a fortune. I have received over THIRTY genuine FIVE STAR Reviews across Trustpilot, Google and Yell and an EXCELLENT customer satisfaction award from Trustpilot with a rating of 4.7/5 underlines that people who have trusted me to work for them are very pleased with my work and the expertise and value I provide.

I take great personal pride in the fact that private and commercial customers place their trust in Orion Investigations & Intelligence Ltd to provide them with first-class service.
I only work with experts who are ex-Police Detectives and ex-Military (many of whom are former Special Forces) who I know personally and who I trust implicitly.
Beware! There are many unscrupulous rogues operating as Private Investigators. Many have no training, no insurance, and no intention of doing any work for the client.
I urge anybody engaging a Private Investigator to make enquiries about their professional background and to be certain that they can trust the people they are trusting to work for them.
I am always pleased to provide details and proof about my professional competencies so my clients can make informed decisions.
Client's considering hiring me are encouraged to check out my LinkedIn profile at https://www.linkedin.com/in/martyn-meekums-4078215a/.
On LinkedIn, you can see the number of genuine endorsements I have received from fellow professionals I have worked with during my career. You cannot fabricate this sort of information. I hope it gives you the confidence to trust me and engage me to work for you.
Orion Investigations & Intelligence Ltd is fully insured. We have £1m Professional Liability Insurance - Many investigators will have no insurance - Ask them for proof!
I am a Full Member of the Association of Britsh Investigators, which rigorously vets its members to ensure quality standards are met, and which operates a strict Code of Ethics its members must comply with.
Everybody who works for and with Orion holds nationally recognized law enforcement and/or military accreditations in investigation and surveillance and holds a current Criminal Records certificate (proving they have a clean criminal record). I've known all of my Team for many years and have worked with them on complex investigations so I can guarantee they work to the same high standards as me.
You can see some of the genuine testimonials received from satisfied clients on the Orion website at www.orioninvestigations.co.uk, and on Trustpilot

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

This depends entirely on the nature of the investigation. Some services are conducted online, such as Trace & Locate work and the majority of Background Checks, but other services require enquiries face to face. The pandemic has caused me to re-appraise the way I work. I do not meet clients face to face unless absolutely necessary, which makes it even more essential that I conduct Due Diligence, and satisfy myself about every client's true identity and their true motivations for wanting me to conduct an investigation. I always require proof of every client's ID, and addess. If you are not prepared to prove to me who you are, don't bother asking me to work for you.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I wish to re-assure our clients that I am, as far as possible, operating a “business as usual” approach during the current Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis. You will be able to contact me in the usual way either by mobile phone, 07949 212272 or via email, martyn@orioninvestigations.co.uk.
I am operating as close as possible to "normal". I am fully respecting government advice and keeping personal face to face contact with clients to an absolute minimum. However, I am able to provide first-class service by holding meetings via Skype or Zoom if required.

Private Investigators FAQs

Expand all

Prices can vary depending on your professional’s experience and the location of the investigation.

Your professional private investigator will be able to advise you on the full range of options, including what is most suitable for you. Use Bark to receive free quotes and get in touch with local private investigators today.

Some of the common services your private investigator can help with include:

  • Surveillance and counter-surveillance

  • Taking pictures and compiling evidence

  • Interviewing witnesses and conducting research

  • Conducting background checks and running credit reports

  • Process serving

  • Performing due diligence and debt recovery

There are several factors worth considering when choosing your private investigator. These include:

  • Referrals - You will likely be sharing personal information with this person, so it is important to find someone reliable. Do as much research on the private investigator as possible. Ask trusted friends for recommendations and always check reviews.

  • Office-based - Make sure they have an office. If your private detective only works out of restaurants and over the phone, that is a sign you should get out now. You need to know where to find this person if they don’t follow through on their obligations.

  • Experience - Ask about their experience and education. To make sure your job gets done right, find a detective who specialises in the task you need. Ask about their experience and the results of their past work.

  • Insurance - Most serious private investigators are insured. While it is not necessary for all jobs, if something were to happen during the work, you as the hirer, would be held liable if there was no insurance coverage.

  • Confidentiality - You are very likely to deal with sensitive information when you are working with a private investigator, and you need to be sure they will be discreet and respectful of information shared between the two of you.

  • Contract - Your initial consultation with a private detective should be free, and from there, they should be able to outline anticipated costs. If you choose to follow through with the work, make sure all fees and expectations are clearly outlined in a contract.

  • Be prepared - Brace yourself for what a private investigator may uncover. Be sure you are ready for whatever they may find, especially when it involves people close to you. You may hope the private investigator will prove your fears wrong, but be sure that you will be able to handle all outcomes.

You can be confident that any of the local private investigators on Bark will give you a reliable and professional service.

Before you choose a private investigator, you could read testimonials and details of their past work on their website.

You could also look at their profile page on Bark, which displays reviews from past customers.

Absolutely! Although, it's important to carry out thorough checks on your personal investigator as well as looking at testimonials from previous clients, as your professional will be dealing with sensitive information, so you need to ensure that they're trustworthy.
