Small Paws Dog Training is a dog training business dedicated to helping improve the bond between dogs and owners, using reward based, fun training methods. I specialise in working with small to medium breeds, from Chihuahuas up to Spaniels and Cockapoos and every breed in between. I have two terriers of my own, so love a challenge! Having had my first human baby a year ago, I am now also specialising in helping families prepare their dogs for new babies and all the changes that might entail. If you're having any training or behavioural issues with your dog, such as: Not coming back when called Predatory chase (rabbits/squirrels/deer/livestock) Pulling on lead Nervous or anxious behaviour Reactivity or aggression Barking Jumping up at visitors Anxiety when left home alone Guarding of food/toys/people/spaces Noise phobias (thunder, traffic, fireworks) Collies that react to traffic/bikes/skateboards/people moving around Or anything else! Then please get in touch for a chat about how I can help.
I love meeting owners as well as their dogs! You have to be able to get on with people to be a dog trainer, as it's you that we are teaching how to train your dog. I love seeing the bond between the dogs and owners grow as training progresses, and the lightbulb monent when the dog understands what the owner is asking it to do!
I got my first Jack Russell Terrier 7 years ago, and he came with a multitude of issues, which led me down a path to learn how to help him. Fast forward to now, and here we are with me sharing the last 7 years of learning and studying to be a dog trainer, to be able to help owners with their dogs.
I am committed to only using ethical reward based training techniques. No aversive collars or harsh punishment will be used - this is just not necessary. The science of dog training has moved on, and shock collars and choke chains play no part in helping to build a bond of trust between owner and dog.
I will teach you to train your dog using methods that will be fun for both of you, and am committed to providing a quality service, which includes advice via e-mail after our sessions - I will not just leave you struggling, wondering what you should be doing now.
