Full behavioural consultation. Every dog and every owner is different, and although most behavioural issues can be similar between different dogs and owners, the causes and remedies will differ. This consultation cannot be measured in time as every case is different but usually this consultation will be around 2 to 3 hours. Initially it is an information gathering exercise in order to fully understand the issue, the people and of course the dog and its surroundings. Included in the cost is a fully detailed behaviour modification plan for both you and your dog which can be emailed or posted to you after the consultation. It is very important to me that your issue is resolved and that you and your dog can live in harmony, to this end I also include four weeks of email support from the day of my visit to help with any issues that may arise in this time. I get to spend my time with dogs. I have met so many wonderful people who care about their dogs and want the best help for them. I love to see the results of my work where people and dogs can live in harmony. When I see that first spark of communication between a dog and its owner, my day is complete.
Since childhood I have lived with, studied and learned to understand dogs, their behaviour and thought process. I have a diploma in canine behaviour and have learned to observe dogs in the same way that they observe each other. Their language is body language, subtle, almost invisible signals that they pass between those that can see and those that can feel the energy. Most dogs just want an easy life and to be understood. Most dogs are desperate to communicate with us. There is no such thing as a bad dog, they don't judge, they don't hate, they just are.
Dogs can be depressed, scared and lonely but there is no scientific proof that a dog can feel guilt or remorse. When your dog does something that you feel is wrong he or she will be scared not guilty, and the fear that they feel is because of us humans, it is the fear of consequence.
I have worked closely with local animal re-homing shelters where dogs are brought in off the street or from unstable homes. I have seen perfectly well balanced dogs go to a new home only to be returned a week later because "She has anger issues" after a few questions it usually transpires that the "issues" are not of the dogs making, they are human issues brought about from a lack of understanding and an expectation from the human of instant obedience and conformity.
At Harmony Canine Solutions it is my aim to bridge these gaps, to translate for you and your dog, and to help you both live a happier more rewarding life together, in harmony. All consultations are done in your own home and you will be left with a plan to work on.
I believe that only through observation can a behavioural issue be properly understood, and only with kindness and a proper understanding can it be dealt with.
I started this business for the dogs. I have spent years studying and learning about canine behaviour because I felt a need to understand them better. I have spent time in dog re-homing centers helping the dogs to rehabilitate, I have spent time with grey wolves learning how they communicate, and I have a diploma in canine behaviour. I love what I do and I love to see harmony restored to a dogs life.
