Tutoring
Anna tutored my son for just over a year, supporting him mainly with his reading and English, and occasionally with maths.
I honestly couldn’t recommend her more highly.
She was always punctual, reliable and someone we completely trusted. From the very beginning, she built a fantastic relationship with my son, and he genuinely looked forward to his sessions with her.
Anna has a real talent for explaining things in a way that children understand. She breaks learning down into manageable steps, making even the more challenging topics feel achievable. I saw my son’s confidence grow as a result of her support.
What I appreciated most was the balance she struck between being warm and approachable while also maintaining clear boundaries. My son can sometimes get distracted or want to chat rather than focus on the task at hand, but Anna was brilliant at gently bringing him back on track without making the sessions feel pressured. She was kind but firm, and that combination worked incredibly well.
The only reason we stopped working with Anna was because I was made redundant and couldn’t continue to commit to the tutoring fees at the time. Had our circumstances been different, we would have happily continued.
If you’re looking for a tutor who is knowledgeable, reliable, engaging and genuinely cares about helping children succeed, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Anna. We’re so grateful for everything she did to support our son.

My child has been having maths tuition with Anna for a year now. She has made excellent progress which is evident from her school reports. My daughter’s confidence has grown immensely in maths, so much so she actively wants to be asked mathematical questions which is amazing compared to where we were previously. We are always provided with regular updates on what has been covered and the progress made. Anna instantly put my child at ease with her naturally warm nature and my daughter is going from strength to strength in maths. I would highly recommend Anna for private tuition. More...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We feel very lucky to have found Anna. She has been an incredible support for our son while preparing for his SATs and 11+ exams, and we have seen such a positive difference in both his ability and confidence.
One thing we really appreciated was how well Anna communicated with us throughout. She always kept us informed about what they had been working on, how he was progressing, and any areas that needed extra focus. As parents, this was so reassuring and helped us feel involved in the process.
Most importantly, our son genuinely enjoyed his sessions with Anna. She built a great relationship with him from the start, making him feel comfortable, supported and motivated to learn. He always came away from lessons feeling positive and proud of what he had achieved.
Over time, we saw a real improvement in his maths, English and reasoning skills, but what stood out most was the boost in his confidence. Anna helped him believe in himself and approach challenges with a much more positive mindset.
Anna is patient, encouraging and clearly passionate about helping children succeed. We are so grateful for all the time, effort and support she has given our son and would not hesitate to recommend her to other parents looking for SATs or 11+ tuition.
Thank you, Anna, for everything you have done for him.

Tutoring
Anna has been incredible for Lillie given her the confidence she needed to believe in herself, her SATs results were a direct correlation of that. Anna makes the lessons fun and enjoyable, ensuring that various elements of the curriculum are covered. Whilst this tuition was originally to boost confidence, which it has, Lillie sees the benefits of the weekly lessons and has asked to continue this study into secondary school - she is curious to learn which is something I saw in her for maths but never English until now. Thank you Anna More...

I would highly recommend Anna from thrive Archer tuition.
Anna was easy to talk to and had good communication with myself and Kayden.
Anna took the information provided from the school report and created lessons to suit his needs.
At the start of the year Kayden was under the expected level. He struggled in all areas in English especially with his handwriting. In Maths he struggled in a few areas, one of them being fractions. Kayden now feels very confident doing fraction work and quite enjoys it. Thanks to Anna.
From Kayden's most recent school report he is now at expected level in Maths and English.
Kayden felt really comfortable with Anna and said he learnt more with her in one lesson than he did in a whole week in school. He was also really sad when his lessons came to an end. We are very grateful for all her hard work.

Anna is a passionate and easily approachable professional with good communication skills and sense of humour. From the very beginning, Anna built a positive relationship with my son, which helped him to feel at ease and enjoy his learning.
She is flexible, knowledgeable and she responded to my son's needs using a variety of resources and strategies, which helped his understanding of math. With her support, he mastered the maths areas he found challenging and this enabled him to achieve his year group targets at the end of last year. My son felt very proud of his achievement. This September, he had a very positive start to his final year of primary school. His new found confidence shows in his independence and enthusiasm not only towards maths but other subjects, too.
I would certainly recommend Anna as a personal tutor for any child/student who seeks to improve their knowledge, skills and confidence.

Anna is a very experienced teacher, who knows how to get the best out of children. She helped both of my children with reading, maths and English (writing and grammar). She is always calm and very good at explaining difficult concepts, especially in maths. Anna built excellent relationships with both of my children and, as a result, they both enjoyed learning with her. A highly professional individual, I would not hesitate to recommend Anna for all aspects of tutoring, whether it's a boost in a particular subject or preparation for Year 6 SATs and beyond. More...
What do you love most about your job?
I love creativity and being able to meet individual needs of each student. The joy of one to one tuition is that children can learn in a way that best suits them and I make a special effort to tailor my lessons to suit a child's individual interests, pace and needs.
I love tutoring because you really get to see a pupil blossom and grow academically. I can provide constant feedback which helps to address any misconceptions, plug any gaps and move the learning on. In addition, tutoring allows the student and tutor to build a strong rapport that is integral to the learning process too.
Seeing my students improving, growing in confidence, resilience and independence, believing in their abilities, turning their frown into a smile, achieving more than they thought was possible is the most rewarding feeling for me!
It's great when you find the perfect balance between learning and fun!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Tutoring allows me to get to know my students on personal level, to tailor and personalise my sessions in a way that really addresses the needs and learning style of the student which is not always possible in the school setting.
Why should our clients choose you?
Working with students on 1-1 basis enables me to identify my students strengths as well as aspects of their learning they find challenging. Then I can plan personalised lessons; their contents and pace can be adapted, nothing is set in stone . Learning can be accelerated or slowed down depending on how my students are coping. Whatever the case, I will always challenge them to deepen and secure their understanding before moving on. All learning is put in a context and linked to other concepts within a subject as well as across subjects.
I am positive, encouraging, calm and patient. I truly believe there is no ceiling on a student's potential and I ensure my students understand this. I have necessary skills to model, scaffold and question effectively. I bring creativity and attention to detail to all of my work.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I can provide my services online or remotely, even though I prefer face to face interactions with my pupils.
While schools were closed during the COVID pandemic, I delivered maths, reading, writing, Science, Geography, Physical Education as well as PSHE lessons online to up classes with up to 25 pupils on daily basis.
Apart from this, I delivered specially tailored reading and comprehension lessons for pupils who have English as their second language.
All the above lessons included interactive games and activities, sharing of resources on screen, modelling, tasks, discussions about given tasks, unpicking any mistakes and misconceptions as well as homework assignments.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I am fully vaccinated. In addition, I have had a booster jab.
I do not use public transport. Instead, I use my own car to commute to my clients.
Private tutor
I have over 20 years of experience as a class teacher in primary schools and 8 years as a maths lead. I have taught across different year groups, lead small group interventions focusing on improving pupils' phonics, reading, writing and maths skills as well as extending their skills through reasoning.
I am flexible, creative, supportive and determined to see every child succeed, improve their skills and make the most of their potential irrespective of their starting point. I am passionate about teaching maths and ensuring that my learners don't learn just procedures and methods but understand maths concepts they are learning thoroughly by making links to their previous knowledge using different resources and representations . Learning through clear, linked steps is the key.
In addition to this, I love creative writing, encouraging pupils to develop their ideas while applying a variety of writing tools, grammar structures, punctuation and spelling techniques to create a desired effect on their readers. Having experience in KS1, I love teaching phonics through a variety of fun interactive activities and games in order to develop pupils' spellings and reading skills.
Having worked in schools in Kent and London, I have gained rich experience working with pupils for whom English is their second language as well as pupils with additional learning needs such as speech and language, Autism and ADHD. My aim is to make all pupils succeed and progress therefore my strategies and teaching approach will be adapted to personal needs of each student.
