After failing numerous times, our daughter passed her Functional Skills English after working with

Homework set after the lesson marked quickly with useful feedback provided. We would highly recommend Susannah.

Susannah, has been absolutely amazing in helping me work towards my degree. Over the last two years she has supported me in enhancing my assignments to a higher level, which has enabled me to obtain a distinction in my level 5 qualification.
Susannah is an extremely knowledgeable lady and has proofread many assignments for me, she has also helped me with clarity and flow. I have learnt a lot and feel more confident in my academic writing. I am looking forward to next year, when I will be completing my degree in Childhood and Youth Studies.
Thank you, Susannah!

Susannah started working with my daughter at the start of year 11 after her grades in English dropped significantly from her predicted grades of 6s to grade 3 at the end of Year 10. She was lacking confidence in both English subjects and she didn’t know how to get back on track. We spoke to a number of tutors and we both agreed that Susannah had the right qualities and experience to tutor her. She ensured my daughter had work to complete in between sessions, which she marked and gave feedback on regularly, and each week I saw my daughter’s confidence grow. The results speak for themselves. On results day she was ecstatic to find that she had received a 6 in English Language with Distinction in the speaking element and a 6 in English Literature. We can’t thank Susannah enough for what she has done. More...

After receiving low mock results in English language 7 months prior to the real GCSE exam it was my son that suggested we should look into getting him a tutor.
Having looked online there were so many to choose from. I found the initial search overwhelming, who would be the best suitor for my son?
I came across Susannah’s profile and sent an enquiry, then sat wondering if I was doing the right thing. From the initial call with Susannah I felt at ease. She was friendly, informative and accommodating to times and days that worked for us.
Upon our first meeting I knew I had made a great choice for my son. Week after week Susannah was always smiling, welcoming, provided challenging work and set homework my for son to progress further at home. My son has grown in confidence with each month that went by. I can’t thank Susannah enough for her patience, welcoming manner and her ability to keep my son focused and interested over the last 7 months. We would absolutely recommend Susannah to anyone that is searching for a tutor.

Hayden came to Susannah for help understanding exam questions and writing succinct answers, having been somewhat prone to waffling! The lessons were helpful in getting Hayden to focus in the required way. Hayden’s GCSE results of a 7 and 8 in English (predicted 5/6) are a testament to Susannah’s methods which follow the principle of catering for each child’s individual needs. More...

I contacted Susannah to help my youngest son with his GCSE English language and literature.
Susannah has great knowledge of the subject and is always very prepared for each session.
Susannah explains the topic really clearly and checks regularly for understanding.
My son has enhanced his vocabulary and has a far better grasp of what is required in his exams than before the tuition. He has gone from predicted grades 4 to achieving grades 6 with predictions of 6 to 7 after a term of tuition. My son has really benefited from the tuition and I would highly recommend Susannah to anyone looking for tuition in English language or literature.

Susannah has got both my girls through their gcse English exam they both went from feeling they had no chance of passing to entering the exam with confidence and knowledge.
Susannah is so patient and kind nothing is too much trouble for her she accommodated my youngest daughter all through covid with online lessons and as soon as it was safe to she went back to face to face with her because we felt she got more out of this type of lesson.
I would highly recommend Susannah. We started with her in year 9 and I would say that is a good starting point.

English Tuition
We give one-to-one lessons to students preparing for exams.
Students can ask for help on specific topics. They get feedback on their work so they can improve, and develop strategies to help them tackle exam questions with confidence.
Lessons are normally one or two hours a week arranged at a time to suit you, throughout the school year. These take place online, or if you are in the Luton and Dunstable area (Bedfordshire) can be at your home if this is what you prefer.
Payment is by the session and you take as few or as many lessons as needed.
We offer an intensive 6 or 8-week intensive course, 2 hours per week, in the run-up to summer exams or re-sits, which focuses on techniques for answering the exam questions, practice activities, and marked questions.
