Reclaimed! With many thanks to Phil and his team the sorry state of my pond has been completely transformed. Suddenly there are nine very happy assorted goldfish enjoying their new found freedom and at long last the pond has been recovered into its original weed free condition and is a pleasure for us and the local wildlife. Phil and his team did an excellent job clearing several years of accumulated gunge out of a couple of ponds, replacing the uv light at the same time. A few weeks later, when we came to switch it on, it failed to start up because all the electrics had failed. They came out again to replace the whole unit within a couple of days. Phil was grumpy and offhand in text messages before the job - which should have been our first clue to find someone else. However, Phil had warned us about the ‘cowboys’ from Bradford that advertise and don’t turn up, or take the money and run . Nice work there, Phil.Phil duly arrived 15 minutes early at 7.15 and went to the neighbour’s house, despite having visited our property twice already - nice work, again, Phil.He brought his 2 Chaps who did most of the work, while Phil wandered around on the phone, having a cigarette or 10. He was in good company though, because the Chaps couldn’t go two minutes without vaping.In a comedy of errors - Phil the pond man didn’t bring a hosepipe, despite knowing he was going to refill the pond. He dispatched Chap1 to find a hosepipe in our garden without having the decency to ask. Hosepipe duly found it was dragged from its inconvenient home round the back of our greenhouse. It was then used to mix concrete, so now our own hosepipe is covered in concrete, and so is our new tarmac driveway - nice one, again, Phil!Luckily we didn’t have any wildlife in the pond because Phil didn’t bring a tub to put anything in despite talking about wildlife at the quote stage. He bucketed the pond water down towards the neighbour’s garden. ‘You didn’t tell me to bring one,’ said Phil. We didn’t tell you to put yer kecks on that morning, either, Phil, but we’re glad you did!Part of the job was to build a small wall at the edge of the pond and cover with the pond liner. Breeze blocks would do the job, said Phil. After the job was completed we were skeptical about these so-called breeze blocks as they were irregularly shaped. A look at our CCTV showed the Chaps inserting our own stones that were stacked at the side of our house. Phil was then adamant on the phone that he had installed breeze blocks - a barefaced lie. He grudgingly returned the next day to remove the stones and insert the agreed breeze blocks.When finishing up, we asked Chap2 where the gravel came from that was inserted into the gaps in the wall of the pond. ‘Oh, round the side there’. Our own gravel that was waiting for a completely different project? What exactly did we pay you for?! Surprised Phil didn’t want us to supply our own mixer as well.Chap2 also poured petrol into a cutting tool on our lawn, creating a burnt patch which we will have to dig out and reseed.So Phil didn’t bring a hosepipe, or a tub, he didn’t bring breeze blocks and he didn’t bring gravel. They burnt the lawn and messed up the driveway. Nice work, Phil.Part way through the (very rushed) job, Phil bogged off because of a problem with his van, leaving Chap1 and Chap2 to do the best they could without their gaffer. Their ‘best’ was shoddy to say the least, and we have eventually completed the beach part of the job ourselves as they left it with a large amount of the liner showing because they hadn’t bedded it in, just laid it on top of existing pebbles. For the price of the job, we were expecting a bit more care and effort. Despite us completing the work, Phil still charged us the full price.We didn’t think it could get any worse until just one day after the job, Phil sent us a text on Good Friday in the manner of a inebriated fool asking for his money and stating we were the worst customers that he’d had in 32years. No amount of asking what on earth we had done to warrant such a statement would elicit a response. He threatened to come round to pick up his money that same evening. There was no mention of quick payment when the invoice was handed over, and we wouldn’t expect to pay a limited company a large amount of money so quickly without having had a chance to inspect the work.Don’t be fooled by Phil being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about ponds. He didn’t give a damn about this job, for reasons known only to himself. If he didn’t want the work then he could have said so before choosing to do a shoddy job. The misogynistic attitude was also uncalled for. To then demand payment on the following day, a Bank Holiday, was the icing on the cake. More...

From the moment I spoke to Phil I liked him and it was obvious that he's very knowledgeable.My wildlife pond is only a year old so I was fairly devastated when the level dropped significantly in just a few days. Phil ordered the new liner for me and came to fit it today along with his team. I wanted to keep as much of the existing water as possible as there was so many little creatures living in it. They put the water into a very large container whilst relining the pond so that it could be put back.I am delighted with the work they've done. Lesson learnt not to buy cheap liner!My thanks to all. My wildlife pond was full to the brim with fallen leaves,overgrown pond plants, and rubble that l wasn't aware off until they drained it! No wonder the frogs had moved out! But 2 hours and 2 lattes later, with pond plants reduced, the pond was refilled. Can't thank the team enough. Saw blackbirds having a bath in the shallow edge, this morning. We had a new pump and filter fitted on our pond which we were experiencing problems with. Phil and his team arrived on time- emptied the pond and placed the frogs, toads and newts carefully in a holding tank. They thoroughly cleaned the pond, dug an "invisible" channel through the lawn for the cables and fitted the pump and filter and then refilled the pond. They also fitted a heron proof net as an extra which was very much appreciated!They were really friendly, professional and worked quickly and efficiently in very cold weather. They were finished by lunchtime and left everything clean and tidy.Phil took the time to visit twice beforehand and carefully explained every detail of the work that would be done and gave us lots of advice on how to take care of the pond.Very highly recommended!
