This place is great! My husband and I came by to check it out. I got the Sail bowl and he got the Sota bowl. The options here are so unique and I will say it's the best acai base I've ever had because it wasn't overly sweet. They also have pitaya, blue majik, coconut, mango and spirulina as base options which is so unique. The toppings are top notch, unique and fresh! The BOWLS ARE GLUTEN-FREE, DAIRY-FREE, PLANT-BASED, SOY-FREE, CONTAIN ALL-NATURAL SWEETENERS, AND ARE MADE WITH ORGANIC, ALL-NATURAL INGREDIENTS! I meant to post this a few weeks ago, but after visiting again, it reminded me I forgot. The first time I went in was when the store first opened. There was the loveliest lady, Shannon working. They were already slammed, but she kept such a positive attitude, knew her stuff, and recommended the bowls that she thought were the best, as well as listened patiently to the elderly woman ahead of me as she explained that she'd never tried one. I thought she was the owner of the store! That girl will keep me coming back to small businesses each and every time. Oh! And my bowl was DELICIOUS. Nautical Bowls has replaced a former ice cream parlor in a highly competitive area of frozen desserts near the beachfront. Pacific Beach is the first location in San Diego to open, however it appears they are also planning to operate a store at both the Westfield UTC Mall and Fashion Valley Mall. The business roots are from the Midwest, specifically Minnesota. The acai bowl game in this town is pretty strong so it remains to be seen how well they can establish a presence. The inside had an aqua blue marine theme as evidenced by the brand name. I noticed only one table and one countertop for seating. Both happened to use a long surfboard for the surface. Bowls were named after boat types and sold in three serving sizes... Dinghy (12 oz), Cruiser (16 oz), and Yacht (24 oz). You can build your own bowl or choose from one of ten prespecified Signature Bowls. Prices for the Signature Bowls were $12.50, $15.50, and $18.50 for each of the respective sizes. I selected a Dinghy Sunrise Bowl for my order. The components were blue majik, pitaya, granola, banana, strawberries, and honey. The first was a superfood otherwise known as blue spirulina which is derived from blue-green algae. Nautical Bowls advertises that their organic, all-natural ingredients are gluten-free, dairy-free, plant-based, soy-free, and contain all-natural sweeteners. Quite a mouthful of adjectives yet the bottom line was that high quality was being used in the bowls. The pitaya, or dragonfruit, had a mild sweetness. The service from the staff was very friendly. My biggest concern was the premium pricing. The smallest size costs less than $10 at acai bowl competitors. Nearby dessert places also sell frozen treats of the same serving size at about half the price. Unless a family is really committed to a healthy lifestyle, it might be tough to convince customers to spend twice as much for a nutritious bowl versus paying less for multiple scoops of ice cream. Prime location for a post-beach bowl and so thankful for the attached parking lot as the area is very congested. I ordered the Paddle bowl and the bases (mango, coconut, blue majik) are super tasty. I'm not sure I would consider these a meal considering the sugar content in a small size (56g) but I would definitely take this over ice cream/fro-yo for a healthier treat! One star off for the strange policy of not allowing substitution of ingredients if all are the same price and all are being made fresh. I asked if the honey topping could be subbed for almond butter to reduce the sugar content but was told they could only remove the honey and would have charge an extra $1 for almond butter. New bowl shop in PB where After's used to be. (I'll miss you so much milky bun). Tried Nautical Bowls for the first time today and I was impressed. Northside Shack still has the best bowls in SD in my opinion, but Nautical Bowls is comparable to Everbowl, which I'm also a fan of. I think this is a great addition to this part of PB and I love that they are open until 9pm so I can enjoy them after watching the sunset. First visit I got the big island bowl because it had all the bases covered. Everything tasted great, and when it started melting all the flavors complimented each other. Pitaya is my favorite so I'll probably create my own or go with the sunrise bowl next visit. You can also create your own bowl, but I found they did a great job crafting the pre-designed options so I'll likely stick with those. I found the price to be a bit high to be a regular. This is the best bowl I've had in Pacific Beach. I appreciate that this place is open until late because I left the beach at 6pm and wanted something light and refreshing. Most açaí places close at like 3pm which is lame. The variety of bowls here is unique with many different bases and toppings to choose from. I am quite particular about the consistency of the açaí base--if it is runny and watery that is a big NO from me. However the consistency of the bases in the bowl was perfect- thick like sorbet. This place definitely stands out from other acai places as they have more than just acai. They actually have several different bases and unique toppings. I tried the Big Island bowl so I could taste all the bases - I'd definitely get it again! The vanilla chia base has a great flavor and the texture goes well with the smooth fruity bases. I'll definitely go back to try their house made nut butter drizzles (they literally grind them in front of you - my husband loved the PB), the coconut butter crumbles, and the PB cacao protein crumbles. The variety they offer is unbeatable and the pricing is comparable to other acai places. The service was very friendly and helpful when we had questions about the products. The gave us recommendations and even had a build your own bowl so my boys could create something they would love. I found Mrs Hercules Glamspa through a friend's wedding I attended a couple years ago, who Glamspa had also done. I had Corinne do my trial (which I very much enjoyed), and for the wedding I had Corinne and Monique. WHEN I TELL YOU THEY MADE US LOOK LIKE QUEENS, just wow. Corinne and Monique displayed professionalism, and a laid back vibe all at the same time, which I feel is very important for that day. I personally did the "glam" and my girls did more of a simplistic make up and hair look, all the girls ended up switching to air-brush the day of. EVERYONE LOVED IT, my girls sounded like a bunch of owls; constantly with the ohhhhh, ahhhh's.
