They did a free survey of my rental property ( within a week) and advised me how I could resolve the mold and dampness issues within the property. Within a week of the survey they had installed the extractor fans required.They explained to the tenant how the devices would resolve the issue, and returned a week after installation to take readings proving the dampness has been resolved. We were in the last stages of our home renovation when we discovered rising damp in two internal walls of the ground floor. Due to being at a critical point we needed the damp proofing done quite quickly. Someone had recommended checkatrade so I put my job request on not really having much hope for a quick turnaround due to Christmas coming up. I got responses from a few companies but I was most inclined towards Home and Dry Solutions due to the tone of their initial message and their amazing reviews. Courtney was the first person I spoke to over messaging and I loved that she responded late in the evening (dedication) with a very positive 'we can definitely help you' message. Following on from that, the surveyor (Rob) came out two days later, at the time given, explained everything to me, did a survey of the ground floor walls and confirmed rising damp in the bottom halves of two internal walls. Rob gave me an immediate quote, and then did a video call and spoke to Karen at the office who was able to arrange for the work to be carried out on the next two working days. Karen then communicated with me via text message which was very helpful, and we got the deposit sorted. On the day the work was due to start, the workers came exactly on time and despite the awful weather they started immediately without any fuss. By 1pm(ish) the damp proofing was done, and ready for plastering. Their conduct and communication was also very good and they left everything super clean, taking all the rubbish with them. The following day, the plasterers arrived promptly and plastered the walls to a very high standard again leaving no mess behind. After that I got a follow up phone call from Alice to check how everything went. All in all, an absolutely fantastic and super service and experience. What I really loved about all the staff I spoke to was their truly down to earth and approachable manner. They were professional but not overly formal which is what I prefer. I'm a closet introvert and too much formality makes me nervous. The damp proofing was a bit expensive but because the work was excellent, and there was a super fast turnaround, it was money well spent. Otherwise I've had experiences with companies that are cheap and do rubbish work which then means getting someone else in to repair the mess. In summary, I can't fault them one bit. What can I say absolutely superb job very well done. Shaun and Josh did a splendid job of removing the old damp plaster tanking the wall and re-plastering. I expected a huge mess but they tidied up after themselves and everywhere was spotless when they’d finished. They even put carpet protection down on the stairs leading up to my 2nd floor flat. Excellent company, first class work. We had problems with damp on the chimney breast behind a log fire. They quickly identified the problem (condensation), rectified the cause, tanking on the chimney breast and an additional extractor fan, completed the work immediately and within a week. The workmen were clean and professional They even identified that the plasterer had made an error and had plasterboarded behind the fire when he should have used cement boards to comply with fire regs. I was so pleased with the work we had done by Home and Dry. When buying, our property surveyor informed us that we would need someone to take a look at the damp. Our seller had a survey done but they came back with an extremely high quote and little explanation of why. I decided to look for an alternative solution and contacted Home and Dry because of the reviews on this page. I didn't really know what to expect but they were wonderful from the first call. Getting booked in was so easy and when Daisy came to look at our house she was wonderful. She took the time to explain everything, showing us her readings and explaining them as she walked around the house. We ended up having two new fans fitted and a small patch of wall fixing. The disruption was minimal, the work guys were really lovely too and we saved over £1,000 based on the seller's quote. I had to record as one star otherwise you cannot post.
Initial meet from Andy was good, got back to us promptly.
Agreed a date weeks in advance and everything seemed OK. Several visits to our cottage later, a hike on the original price due to the construction and two days late on starting, the contracted plasterers arrived.
They told me they had been putting the job off as they did not want to do the task using the suggested method, condradicted what Andy had told us on several issues and left. They did not speak highly of Home & Dry. I then had to ring and request a refund. This was not a small job (10k+).
I don't normally write reviews on poor performance unless I genuinely feel it is justified. The context to this is that we are moving in four weeks time, relocating 250 miles and renovating a cottage at a distance. We were given assurance that the work would be completed in the agreed timescale.
We simply have been placed in a position where we cannot possibly find another contractor in time to meet our timescale and this has a knock on affect to all other booked jobs.

Mr Edwards, we agree completely with your comments. We had recently expanded into the Plymouth area and believed that we had found the required tradesmen to carry out the work to our high standards. Unfortunately, when they arrived to do the job, they felt that they did not have the required skills to replaster a cottage of that age and non standard construction to yours or our satisfaction. As soon as we found out that we could not proceed with the job we refunded all monies paid. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
