ELMER BUILDING SERVICES

I showed Richard around my property in September 2025 and pointed out the areas that I wanted repointing including the chimney and to have the flaunching repaired and a new cowl fitted. This included colour matching the mortar on red fetcher brickwork on the side and front elevations of my property. His quote lacked the required detail so to avoid any future misunderstandings I asked him to confirm that what I asked him to do was included. Again, the response was not detailed but sufficient for me to entrust the work to his team. Most of the work was done to a good standard but the red fetcher brickwork bordering 3 windows to the front of the property had not been done. When he presented his final invoice on the Friday, this was pointed out and he mentioned that either he or one of his team would return the following week to complete it. He had another job to go to on the following Monday. I delayed paying the invoice until the scaffolding had come down in case of any issues and then paid most of the money on 12th November 2025 minus a relatively small amount as an incentive so that the area outstanding would be completed. This has been a bone of contention ever since and despite an acknowledgement on 4 occasions that the job hadn't been forgotten it still hasn't been done after some 7 months. Each time I have approached him his reply has been that the area outstanding was not included. He has even said that some parts of the work were done free of charge as they too were not included and yet I had asked in writing for them to be done as part of the job. I last contacted him at the beginning of February 2026 and suggested that he puts the job in his schedule and completes it in a timely manner. Upon satisfactory completion the outstanding sum will be paid. To date I have heard nothing. Our communications via email and Whats App evidence the above. Considering builders rely on good reviews and word of mouth, his attitude does not make sense. The area to be done would probably take 2-3 hours at most to be completed. We have used Richard from Elmer Building Services for many years and always been so pleased with his work. He fitted a new kitchen for us a few years ago and more recently refurbished our downstairs cloakroom / shower room. They surveyed quickly ,gave me a written quotation and on receiving the order started work promptly.
They appear to have done a good job and cleaned up well after the work was completed. I would have no hesitation in recommending them
I must say of the other two companies you sent me one whilst looking professional wanted to charge me three times the price of Elmer.
The other looked anything but professional and wanted to get on the roof and start the job without an estimate or survey claiming they had materials left from last job! More...

We were recommended Richard by a friend of the family. The quote was fair and the only difference between the quote and the final invoice was where we chose to upgrade elements of the build. Richard and team removed our conservatory and replaced it with a small extension. We are so pleased with their high standard of work. They are reliable, friendly, helpful and always kept us informed of the progress. We currently have them back doing our garden and we can't wait to see it finished. Looking great so far!
